Supported Applications

The Omega RTD-850 Series consists of bolt-on resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors designed for stud-mount construction in limited spaces. These miniature housing units feature a stainless steel body with a #8-32 UNC-2A mounting thread, enabling installation where space constraints preclude larger probes.

Documented applications include surface and process monitoring using the high-accuracy 100 Ω Class "A" DIN platinum element. The series is configured for connection to instruments supporting 3-wire construction, including temperature controllers (e.g., CN1A-TC), universal DIN rail transmitters (TXDIN1610), handheld data loggers (OM-DAQPRO-5300), and DIN rail mountable signal conditioners (DRF-RTD).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RTD-850 Series operates with a maximum process temperature of 230°C (450°F). The sensing element is specified as a 100 Ω Class "A" DIN platinum sensor, providing an accuracy of ±0.1°C @ 0°C.

Physical dimensions for the stud-mount housing include a diameter of 6 mm (0.25") across flats and a stem length of 4 mm (0.17"). The wetted materials are stainless steel. Electrical construction utilizes #26 AWG stranded nickel-plated copper wire, which is PFA insulated and PFA jacketed.

Key Performance Specifications

  • Sensing Element: 100 Ω Class "A" DIN platinum
  • Accuracy: ±0.1°C @ 0°C (IEC Class A)
  • Maximum Temperature: 230°C (450°F)
  • Cable Construction: #26 AWG stranded nickel-plated copper, PFA insulated/jacketed
  • Electrical Configuration: 3-Wire Construction

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable electrical connection options to suit different instrumentation interfaces. The standard configuration includes an MTP Male connector; mating connectors are sold separately.

Alternative connector types available as optional configurations include:

  • TA3F Connector: Audio-style connector (add "-TA3F" suffix)
  • OTP Connector: Heavy-duty connector (add "-OTP" suffix)

Cable length is standardized at 1 m (40") across all models. The series supports specific mating connectors and cable clamps, such as the MTP-U-F with PCLM-MTP clamp for standard units, or OTP-U-F with PCLM-OTP clamp for heavy-duty configurations.

Key Product Differences

The RTD-850 Series is differentiated by connector type and model suffix:

  • RTD-850: Standard configuration with MTP Male connector. Requires mating connector (MTP-U-F) sold separately.
  • RTD-850-TA3F: Features TA3F audio-style connector for additional cost.
  • RTD-850-OTP: Features OTP heavy-duty connector for additional cost. Requires mating connector (OTP-U-F) sold separately.

All variants share the same 100 Ω Class "A" DIN sensing element, stainless steel housing with #8-32 UNC-2A thread, and maximum temperature rating of 230°C (450°F). Images provided in documentation are for reference only.
