Supported Applications
The Omega SGT Full Bridge Diaphragm series provides transducer quality strain gauges designed for bending or axial tension/compression applications. These full Wheatstone bridge configurations feature perpendicular grids optimized for single surface gaging.
Suitable for use with stainless steel or aluminum spring elements, the series offers temperature compensation options specifically matched to these materials: ST (Steel) and AL (Aluminum).
Operating Conditions & Performance
The SGT series is engineered as a full bridge configuration on a single carrier, providing pre-aligned strain gauges intended for easy installation. This design reduces wiring complexity compared to individual element placement.
Performance parameters are defined by the specific model selection:
- Nominal Resistance: Available in 350 Ω or 1000 Ω configurations depending on the grid pattern and series variant.
- Maximum Bridge Energizing Voltage (Vrms): Varies by model, ranging from 6.5 Vrms to 33 Vrms as specified in the selection table for each gage size and resistance combination.
Configuration Options
The series is configurable across grid sizes, termination types, temperature compensation materials, and nominal resistances. The model number follows the pattern SGT-<GRID SIZE>/<RESISTANCE>-<TERMINATION>-<TEMP COMP>.
Grid Sizes and Dimensions
The series supports three primary grid patterns with corresponding carrier dimensions:
- SGT-2 Series (10 mm actual size): Grid A 1.8 mm, Grid B 2.0–2.4 mm; Carrier C 10 mm.
- SGT-3G Series (10.5 mm actual size): Grid A 2.5 mm, Grid B 2.9 mm; Carrier C 10.5 mm.
- SGT-4 Series (14.8 mm actual size): Grid A 4.0 mm, Grid B 4.3 mm; Carrier C 14.8 mm.
Termination and Electrical Connection
Selectable electrical connection methods include:
- Ribbon Leads: Standard termination for models ending in FB1x or FB2x (e.g., SGT-2/1000-FB11).
- Solder Pads: Available on models ending in FB4x (e.g., SGT-2/1000-FB41) for direct soldering.
Packaging and Special Features
All variants are supplied as a package of 5. The SGT-3G/350 series models feature an open corner at the signal terminals with five total terminals, allowing for the addition of zero temperature compensation and zero balance compensation resistors. All other full bridge gauges in this series utilize four terminals.

Variants within the SGT Full Bridge Diaphragm series are distinguished by grid size (SGT-2, SGT-3G, or SGT-4), nominal resistance (350 Ω vs. 1000 Ω), termination style (Ribbon Leads vs. Solder Pads), and temperature compensation material (ST for Steel, AL for Aluminum).

epoxy on solder pads adds difficulty
Gage performs, but I had to scrape the pads in order to solder lead wires on. They were covered in a thin layer of epoxy that prevented soldering. And this was prior to bonding so it wasn't from the installation process.

The gauge is ok the price is NOT
This is a good gauge, but over the past few months DwyerOmega has increased the price by nearly 40% and eliminated the quantity discount. While I really like this gauge, at the current price it is much less attractive.

What is the resistance tolerance for each element?
Tolerance on the 350 ohm resistance is +/- 0.5%

What is the full-scale signal voltage output at the maximum excitation voltage of 6.5V?
The full scale output will depend on the gage factor and the actual strain applied. Please see page E-104 full bridge configurations in the following link for the formula to compute your mV out and strain.
