CA-Series

Supported Applications

The Omega CA-Series provides pre-made cable assemblies designed for connecting load cells and pressure transducers. These assemblies feature a 6-pin female twist lock connector on one end and color-coded stripped ends on the other, facilitating direct integration with compatible instrumentation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports standard lengths of 4.6 m (15 ft), with additional length options available to suit specific installation distances. Cables are constructed using either PVC or FEP insulation materials depending on the model selection. The assemblies accommodate various output signal types, including 4 to 20 mA outputs, mV outputs, and amplified 0 to 5 Vdc or 0 to 10 Vdc signals.

Wiring Configurations

The series offers six distinct wiring codes (Code 1 through Code 6) that define the socket-to-connection mapping for input, output, and shunt leads. Specific configurations include:

• Wiring Code 1 & 2: Support basic + Input/- Input or +/- Output connections.
• Wiring Code 3 & 5: Include dedicated Shunt connections (Blue and Brown) alongside input/output leads.
• Wiring Code 4: Configured for dual-input sensing with separate output pairs.

Configuration Options

The CA-Series is configurable across conductor count, insulation type, wiring code, and length. Model numbers follow the format: CA- <# of Wires> PC/TE <AWG>-<Wiring Code>-<Length (ft)>.

Conductor Count and Insulation

• 2-Conductor: Available with PVC or FEP insulation for 4 to 20 mA output applications.
• 4-Conductor: Offered in PVC or FEP; supports mV outputs, amplified voltage signals (0-5 Vdc/0-10 Vdc), and specific load cell ranges.
• 6-Conductor: Available with PVC or FEP insulation. Required for products utilizing internal shunts or input sensing leads.

Length Options

Cable lengths are available in increments including 5 ft, 10 ft, 15 ft (standard), 30 ft, and up to 50 ft for specific 6-conductor models.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ primarily by their intended product compatibility as defined in the Model Number Selection Table. Key distinctions include:

• PX Series Compatibility: Specific wiring codes (e.g., Code 3, 4A) are designated for PX01, PX02, PX80, PX91, and high-range LCHD load cells.
• Sense Lead Requirements: Models with "without sense" designations utilize fewer conductors (e.g., CA-4PC24-6-015) compared to their 6-conductor counterparts for the same transducer family when sensing leads are not required.
• Load Cell Capacity: Wiring Code 4A variants support LCHD load cells greater than 5,000 lbs, while standard Code 4 supports ranges from 5 to 5,000 lbs.
