Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 250-AF Inclined Manometer Air Filter Gages are designed for measuring pressure drop across air filters in ductwork systems. These instruments monitor filter performance to determine when servicing is required, utilizing a fluid-filled inclined tube that provides magnified readings of the differential pressure.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 150°F. Accuracy is specified as ±1% of Full-Scale for the Series 250-AF models, with a fluid bore precision drilled to ±0.0002" to assure life-long accuracy. The maximum working pressure rating is 2 PSI.

Measurement ranges vary by model configuration:

  • .10 - 0 - .10 inches of water (Models 250-AF, 250.5-AF)
  • .05 - 0 - .50 inches of water (Model 251-AF)
  • .20 - 0 - .20 inches of water (Model 252-AF)
  • 0 to 2 inches of water (Model 452-AF)

The scale is mirror polished chrome plated brass for parallax-free reading, and a glass spirit level is built into the body. Safety traps are incorporated in the gage body to prevent fluid loss due to pressure surges.

Configuration Options

Housing materials differ by model series:

  • Solid Acrylic Plastic: 1" thick solid acrylic plastic for Series 250-AF models (e.g., 250-AF, 250.5-AF, 251-AF, 252-AF).
  • Acrylic and Epoxy Coated Aluminum: 5/8" thick acrylic with epoxy coated aluminum for Model 452-AF.

The series supports various scale lengths and minor divisions to match specific pressure ranges. Red and green signal flags indicate clearly when a filter change is necessary based on the gage reading. Connection fittings are positively sealed but easily removed for zeroing or addition of fluid.

Options & Accessories

The following accessories are available:

  • A-310B: 3-way vent valve, 1/8" NPT to 1/4" metal tubing, rated for 10 psi.
  • A-317: Gage connector with a 1/8" pipe thread opening (less OD thread) designed for slip fit in the 3/4" diameter opening of Series 250-AF gages.

Note: If optional vent valves are preferred, two units are required. Use Dwyer Instruments, Inc. gage fluid only; other fluids or cleaning agents may damage the gage.

Key Product Differences

The series includes multiple model numbers distinguished by range and scale division:

  • Model 250-AF & 250.5-AF: Range .10-0-.10" water column with minor divisions of .02" or .01" respectively.
  • Model 251-AF: Range .05-0-.50" water column, .01" minor divisions.
  • Model 252-AF & 452-AF: Ranges of .20-0-.20" and 0-2" respectively, both with .02" minor divisions.

Different models feature varying overall dimensions to accommodate the required scale length. For example, Model 350-AF is a vertical manometer configuration where standard inclined dimensions are not shown in the specification table.
