Supported Applications

The Omega VIBROCONTROL VC-1804 is an Ethernet Bridge and Data Logger module designed for the VIBROCONTROL 1800 Series vibration monitoring systems. It enables cost-effective machine protection for critical rotating equipment, including machinery with roller element bearings and sleeve bearings. The series supports applications requiring time waveform recording, trend logging, and alarm storage connected to a PC running Compact Analyzer software or via an EtherBridge connection.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The VC-1804 operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 °C to +50 °C. Storage temperatures are rated from -40 °C to +85 °C. The module features a DIN rail enclosure with IP20 protection and dimensions of H: 110, W: 23, D: 114 mm. It is designed for use within the VIBROCONTROL Link Concept modularity system, interconnecting via DIN rail bus connectors.

Performance specifications are defined by the connected vibration monitor (VC-1850, VC-1860, or VC-1870). The series supports measurement ranges up to 1-100 mm/s for velocity, 1-300 m/s² for acceleration, and 0.1-15 mm Pk-Pk for displacement. Standard frequency ranges include 10 Hz - 1,000 Hz with selectable filter settings.

Configuration Options

The VC-1804 extends the VIBROCONTROL 1800 Series capabilities by providing data storage and communication functions. Key configurable features include:

  • Data Storage: RAM-based storage for trends and time waveform recordings, triggered event or timer based.
  • Communication Interfaces: Supports RS-485 (daisy chain up to 255 units) and Mini USB/B. Remote access is possible through the EtherBridge Module.
  • Time Waveform Recording: Up to 4 input channels can record digital raw data simultaneously at sample rates up to 10 kHz via RS-485/LAN (buffered) or Mini USB (real-time).
  • Modular Integration: Interconnects with Vibration Monitors, Relay Modules (VC-1801), and Input/Output modules using the Link Concept.

The system complies with CE, ISO 13849-1, ISO 10816-3, VDI 3832, and API 670 standards. Power is supplied via +24 V DC (±5%), with a maximum power consumption of 10 W for the system.

Key Product Differences

The VIBROCONTROL 1800 Series includes distinct monitoring units based on sensor type: VC-1850 for accelerometers (CCS), VC-1860 for velocity sensors, and VC-1870 for displacement sensors. The series offers additional modules to expand functionality:

  • VC-1803: Ethernet Bridge module.
  • VC-1804: Ethernet Bridge with integrated Data Logger (RAM storage).
  • VC-1801: Relay Module providing up to 24 additional galvanic isolated relays for Alert and Danger alarms.

The VC-1804 specifically differentiates itself from the VC-1803 by including internal RAM storage capabilities for trends and time waveforms, whereas other modules in the series focus on signal conditioning or relay expansion. Configuration is performed using Compact Commander Software (Compact Setup included; Compact Analyzer available on request).
