Supported Applications

The OMEGAFLEX® CHEMICAL TUBING, PTFE Formulation, TYTT Series is the most flexible of the three fluoropolymer tubings, engineered for chemical handling and fluid-transfer applications that demand exceptional media compatibility. The PTFE formulation is compatible with almost all chemicals and solvents, making it a versatile choice for aggressive process fluids where lesser materials would degrade.

The tubing is FDA approved, supporting food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and other sanitary or regulated applications in addition to general industrial chemical transfer. It is translucent milky-white to white in appearance, depending upon the type of PTFE resin used in manufacturing.

The material can accommodate a wide range of routing needs, and specialty options broaden its reach: Specialty Tubing and Specialty Overbraid Tubing are available for applications requiring reinforced or customized configurations. Non-standard colors can also be supplied — consult Sales for availability.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TYTT Series handles temperatures ranging from -79 to 260°C (-110 to 500°F) in continuous service, giving it a broad operating envelope from cold conditions through high-temperature process media.

Pressure performance is rated in psi @ 73°F and varies by model, ranging from roughly 325 psi on the highest-rated configurations down to about 100 psi on lower-rated models, according to wall thickness and diameter.

Documented material properties include a Hardness of 50-55 (Shore D), a Specific Gravity of 2.13-2.2, an Elongation at Break of 250-450%, and a Tensile Strength of 3200 psi. The Brittle Temperature is documented at 170°C, and the recommended Minimum Bend Radius is Eight times tube OD. The material carries an ASTM 3295 designation and is RoHS compliant.

Specifications given are typical. Field testing is recommended to find the actual operating specifications in the given application.

Configuration Options

All TYTT models share the same PTFE wetted material and the same -79 to 260°C (-110 to 500°F) continuous service range; the models differ primarily in dimensions and the resulting pressure rating at 73°F.

The series follows the model-number format TYTT-<OD/ID Code>-<Length Code>. For example, TYTT-1418-100 denotes 100' of tubing with a 0.063" wall, ¼" OD, and ⅛" ID. Wall thicknesses across the lineup range from thin walls up to the heavier 0.063" wall, and together with the bore size they set each model's rated pressure.

  • Smaller bores and thicker walls carry the highest pressure ratings.
  • Larger bores and thinner walls trade pressure capability for greater internal flow area.

The catalog spans both Imperial diameters and a Metric Diameters group covering 4 to 16 mm OD tubing, so the same PTFE performance is available in inch- and millimeter-sized bores. Because the product is made by batch process manufacturing, it is sold by standard coil length only: coiled in a 25-ft. no-splice package, a 50-ft maximum two-splice package, or a 100-ft maximum three-splice package.
