Supported Applications

The Omega OM-CP-RTDTempX Series consists of multi-channel RTD-based temperature data loggers designed for remote temperature monitoring or multiple points in a central location. These devices support simultaneous logging across all channels, enabling users to capture date and time-stamped data for analysis after the monitoring cycle is complete. The series facilitates real-time recording when used with a PC via free OM-CP software.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The X-Series measures temperatures from -200 °C to +850 °C (-328 °F to +1562 °F), which is probe dependent. A specified accuracy range of -200 °C to +200 °C (-328 °F to 392 °F) applies for calibrated accuracies based on standard Omega calibrations for the 0 Ω to 200 Ω range. Temperature resolution is 0.001 °C (0.0018 °F), and resistance resolution is 0.0001 Ω, both probe dependent.

Calibrated accuracy is ±0.04 °C (±0.072 °F) for temperature measurements and ±0.015 Ω @ 25 °C (77 °F) ambient. The reading rate ranges from 4 Hz up to 1 reading every 24 hours. Time accuracy is specified as ±1 minute/month, with a typical battery life of 18 months using the included user-replaceable 9 V lithium battery.

Operating environment limits are -20 °C to +60 °C (-4 °F to +140 °F) and 0 %RH to 95 %RH non-condensing. The enclosure is constructed of black anodized aluminum, and the series carries CE and ROHS approvals.

Input Connection & Probe Compatibility

The input connection utilizes a removable screw terminal supporting 2, 3, or 4 wire interfaces. Temperature specifications are based on ideal 100 Ω Pt RTD compliant with IEC 751 (1983) and ITS-90, using a 5000 Ω FSR configuration.

  • Recommended: 100 Ω, 2 or 4 wire RTD probes for the most accurate performance.
  • Note on 3-wire compatibility: Most 100 Ω, 3 wire RTD probes will work, but accuracy is not guaranteed. To determine if a 3-wire probe works, resistance between two same-colored wires should be less than 1 Ω.

Configuration Options

The series offers four channel configurations: 4-channel, 8-channel, 12-channel, and 16-channel. Memory capacity varies by the number of enabled channels; with all channels active, storage ranges from 698,709 readings per channel (4-channel) down to 174,677 readings per channel (16-channel). Users can enable or disable individual channels to maximize memory and name each channel with up to a ten-digit title.

Physical Dimensions & Weight

Housing dimensions increase with channel count:

  • 4-channel / 8-channel: 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 1.22 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 31.0 mm); Weight: 13 oz (368 g).
  • 12-channel: 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 1.68 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 42.7 mm); Weight: 20 oz (580 g).
  • 16-channel: 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 2.14 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 54.4 mm); Weight: 28 oz (800 g).

Software & Data Management

The series ships with a USB-A to micro USB cable for connection to Windows XP SP3/7/8/10 systems at 460,800 baud. Start modes include software-programmable immediate start or delay start up to 6 months in advance. Digital calibration is performed through the software, and the calibration date is automatically recorded within the device.

Data formats support C, °F, K, °R, and Ω units with graphical, tabular, and statistical analysis options via OM-CP Standard Software version 4.2.19.0 or later, or Secure Software version 4.2.18.0 or later.

Key Product Differences

The series is available in four distinct model numbers corresponding to channel count:

  • OM-CP-QUADRTDTEMP-A2: 4-Channel RTD Data Logger, includes USB-A to micro USB cable and universal power adapter.
  • OM-CP-OCTRTDTEMP-A2: 8-Channel RTD Data Logger, includes USB-A to micro USB cable and universal power adapter.
  • OM-CP-X12RTDTEMP-A2: 12-Channel RTD Data Logger, includes USB-A to micro USB cable and universal power adapter.
  • OM-CP-X16RTDTEMP-A2: 16-Channel RTD Data Logger, includes USB-A to micro USB cable and universal power adapter.

A replacement battery is available as part number OM-CP-BAT103. The device stops recording when memory ends or the user stops it; re-arming via computer is required before restarting.

Can you print off your data logs?

Asked by: StartUP
Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, you can. If you click "Help" within the software and search for the word "print", it will give an explanation on all the ways you can print. Other option is to export the data file to Excel and print it from there.

We would like to connect our OM-CP-OCTRTDTEMP-A to a SAPC-RTD-4-100-A-120 RTD. Does the RTD come with screw terminals that will plug into the logger? If not can we purchase new screw terminals for the logger?

Asked by: 0475536342
Thank you for your question. The RTD has stripped leads, and the logger is provided with screw terminals to accommodate stripped leads.
