Supported Applications

The OM-CP-THERMALERT is a wireless temperature monitoring and alarming system that is part of the NOMAD Family. It is designed for hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, and other critical temperature monitoring areas where continuous, unattended surveillance of environmental conditions is essential.

Because the system offers wireless two-way communication, precision RTD sensing, and real-time data viewing, it is well suited to facilities that must document conditions for compliance and quality assurance. The system supports both temperature and humidity monitoring, allowing it to serve cold-storage rooms, incubators, stability chambers, and similar controlled environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitter measures over a temperature range of -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F) with a resolution of 0.01°C (0.018°F). Calibrated accuracy is ±0.5°C (±0.9°F) from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). The unit is rated for an operating environment of -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F) and 0 to 95% RH non-condensing.

Wireless communication uses a 2.45 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 ultra-low power transceiver with fully bi-directional communication, operating in the ISM band 2.405-2.48 GHz. Maximum output power is +0dBm typical and receiver sensitivity is -95dBm typical. The wireless range is 610 m (2000') outdoor line-of-sight and 152 m (500') indoor.

The reading rate is user configurable from one reading every two seconds to one every 24 hours. Memory holds 30,000 readings with software configurable memory wrap. The device supports immediate start or delay start up to 18 months, and offers digital calibration through software. It is powered by a 3.6V lithium battery (included and user replaceable) and is rated for a 2-year battery life with a battery life indicator.

Enclosure protection is splash proof (IP69K) for the OM-CP-RFC1000-IP69K model. The system carries CE approval, with an optional NIST calibration certificate and an optional 5 year warranty.

Configuration Options

The OM-CP-THERMALERT data logger requires the OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT wireless transceiver to operate; the transceiver is sold separately and its package includes the operator's manual, Windows software, and USB interface cable.

Transceiver options change deployment capability. The OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT is the standard wireless transceiver package (not CE approved), the OM-CP-RFC1000-EXT-EUR is the CE approved package, and the OM-CP-RFC1000-IP69K is the splash proof (IP69K) package for washdown or wet environments.

The OM-CP-THERMALERT-CERT configuration adds a NIST calibration certificate for applications that require traceable documentation. The system is field upgradeable, and the OM-CP-BAT109 replacement 3.6V lithium battery allows user servicing to maintain the rated battery life.
