Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 490W Wireless Hydronic Differential Pressure Manometer is designed for wireless measurement of differential pressure, single pressure, and air flow. Documented applications include hydronic valve balancing, refrigerant pressure testing, measuring pressure drop across pumps, and monitoring chillers and coils for freeze protection.

The system utilizes Dwyer’s hydronic application software containing valve charts to convert differential pressure readings directly into flow on the connected display screen.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 490W operates within a compensated temperature range of 32 to 140°F (0 to 60°C) and supports process temperatures from -4 to 185°F (-20 to 85°C). The measurement range is specified as 0 to 200 psi (0 to 1379 kPa), with a maximum pressure rating of 400 psi. Accuracy is stated as 2% of reading, ±0.5 psi, and hysteresis is listed at ±0.25% FS.

Resolution reaches 0.0001 psi. The device supports engineering units including psi, ft w.c., in w.c., Pa, kPa, hPa, cm w.c., and mm w.c. Wireless communication extends up to 65' (19.8 m) using Bluetooth® v5.0 and Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE). Wetted materials consist of a transducer made from 316L SS.

Configuration Options

The series is offered as a rugged, weatherproof handheld system that connects wirelessly to UHH6 or newer handheld devices and smart mobile devices running Android® firmware version 8.0 and above. The standard configuration includes two wireless pressure transducers powered by user-replaceable AAA batteries (LR03 type recommended).

Available options and accessories include:

  • -HKIT: Hydronic balancing kit.
  • -NIST: NIST calibration certificate option for sensors.
  • Piercing gauge adapters in various sizes (1/8" DIA x 1-1/2", 1/8" DIA x 3", and 1/16" x 1-1/2").
  • Pressure test plug adapters for the 490A-HKIT.
  • Replacement sensors (e.g., A-490W-6) with or without NIST calibration.
  • Universal handheld test device UHH7.

The kit includes a hard carrying case, installation and operating manual, 1/4" SAE adapters, quick connect couplers, and four AAA batteries. The sensor features two 1/4" male NPT process connections.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series-490W differ primarily by calibration certification and kit contents. Models such as 490W-6-HKIT-NIST include a NIST calibration certificate, while standard kits like 490W-6-HKIT do not specify this inclusion in the model code. The series supports replacement sensors (A-490W-6) and sensor caps (A-490W-CAPS). All variants share the same measurement range of 0 to 200 psi, process connection type, and wireless communication protocol.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Plastic lids are junk. Love that the app has many valve charts that automatically calculate flow when you choose the correct valve but could use more charts in the app as many times you have to use manual and look up the cv on the chart and put that data in.
