Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 647 Wet/Wet Differential Pressure Transmitter is designed for use with compatible liquids or gases to measure differential pressure down to 1" H2O. The transmitter features a fast response piezoresistive sensor and an isolation system suitable for HVAC systems, filter monitoring, variable speed drive control, air/liquid flow monitoring, pneumatic systems, and process control.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 647 operates within a temperature range of 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) and provides an accuracy of ±1.0% FS with excellent repeatability and low hysteresis. The unit is housed in a gasketed steel epoxy painted enclosure rated NEMA 4 (IP56). It accepts a power supply of 18-30 VDC, delivering a 2-wire output signal of 4 to 20 mA with reverse polarity protection.

Load resistance capabilities are specified as 400Ω @ 18 VDC, 600Ω @ 24 VDC, and 1000Ω @ 30 VDC. The transmitter features two 1/8" female NPT process connections for wet/wet differential pressure measurement.

Configuration Options

The series supports a broad range of measurement spans configured via model numbers, covering both inches water column and pounds per square inch differential:

  • Inches Water Column Ranges: 0 to 1" w.c., 0 to 3" w.c., 0 to 5" w.c., 0 to 10" w.c., and 0 to 25" w.c.
  • Pounds per Square Inch Differential Ranges: 0 to 1 psid, 0 to 5 psid, 0 to 15 psid, and 0 to 30 psid.

The series includes adjustable zero and span settings. Wetted materials include brass, vinyl, glass-filled polyester, silicon, and fluorosilicone (noted as 'florosilicone' in the manual). An optional NIST traceable calibration certificate is available under order code NISTCAL-PT1.

Key Product Differences

The Series 647 distinguishes its models by measurement range, identified by a suffix digit (e.g., 647-0 through 647-8). Pressure ratings vary according to the selected range: ranges from 1 in w.c. to 5 psi have a rating of 20 psi; the 15 psi range is rated for 45 psi; and the 30 psi range is rated for 60 psi.

Installation notes indicate that while units can be mounted in any position, users must remain alert to moisture passing through non-waterproof electrical connectors. The manual advises using a second wrench when tightening port hex nuts to avoid rotating brass fittings and recommends installing pressure snubbers to mitigate fluid hammer effects from quick-closing valves or pump surges.
