Supported Applications
The LVV-110 Series Vertical Buoyancy Level Switch is a float sensor built from a float, magnet, reed switch and baffle body. When dry the float rests at the bottom of the baffle; when immersed the float becomes buoyant and lifts the magnet to activate the reed switch. A filling baffle dampens turbulence and eliminates surface chatter, giving a stable single-point level signal.
The sensors are NEMA 6 (IP68) submersible and can be mounted vertically wet or dry, which suits them to secondary-containment tanks, sumps and process vessels. Selectable normally open or normally closed operation lets a single part serve high-level or low-level duty. Because actuation is magnetic, the switch should not be installed in magnetized metal tanks, and it should not be used in flammable or explosive applications unless connected to an approved control device.
Wetted materials are chosen for liquid compatibility, with fluids evaluated per the Compass Corrosion Guide, and a minimum specific gravity of 0.8 is required for reliable buoyancy.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The sensor delivers an accuracy of ±2 mm in water with repeatability of ±1 mm in water, and tolerates extreme orientation up to ±20° from vertical. Output is a selectable NO or NC reed contact.
Switch voltage is 120 Vac, 120 Vdc @ 15 VA for the LVV-110 and LVV-111, and the reed switch is rated to a 15 VA maximum resistive load. The supply voltage should never exceed 120 volts AC @ 15 VA.
The process temperature range is -40 to 90°C (-40 to 194°F). Pressure is rated to 2 bar @ 25°C, derated @ 1.667 psi (0.113 bar) per °C above 25°C. The cable is a 2.4 m (8'), 3-wire, 22 gauge lead with ground, shield and a PP or PFA jacket, and cable runs of up to 152 m (500') are supported. Mounting is via a ¾ NPT thread, and the corporate quality system is ISO 9001 certified with the product carrying CE and RoHS compliance.
Configuration Options
Within the LVV-110 Series the two catalog sensors differ chiefly by wetted body and cable material, which sets their chemical compatibility:
- LVV-110 — polypropylene (PP) body with a PP cable jacket for general-purpose service.
- LVV-111 — polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) body with a PFA cable jacket for more aggressive chemistries.
Both share the same 4.5 x ¾ NPT body size, reed-switch output, ±2 mm accuracy and NEMA 6 (IP68) submersible rating, so the choice between them is driven purely by fluid compatibility rather than by measurement performance. The overall sensor measures 137 mm in length by 25 mm in diameter.
Key Product Differences
The reed-switch sensor lineup is ordered by material and cable length:
- LVV-110 — sensor-reed switch, PP body.
- LVV-111 — sensor-reed switch, PVDF body.
Each sensor ships with a nominal 2.4 m (8') cable. Extended cable lengths are available by adding a suffix to the model number: -25 for 7.62 m (25') or -50 for 15.24 m (50') on PP or PVDF models, for additional cost. Accessories include the LVN-12 Junction Box and a 1/2 coupling, and every sensor comes complete with an operator's manual.

Thank you for your inquiry. The level switch can work with most liquids, unless, the liquid tends to stick onto the surface of the switch which may cause a false reading.
