Supported Applications

The Omega HG Series comprises variable airflow heat guns with digital LCD displays and programmable settings. These compact, lightweight units are designed for heating and drying temperature-sensitive materials, shrinking tubing and packaging, soldering and desoldering circuit boards, bending plastics, activating adhesives, removing decals, and defrosting frozen pipes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HG Series provides adjustable temperature control in 10° increments across a range of 50 to 540°C (130 to 1000°F). Air flow is adjustable from 4 to 16 CFM (113 to 453 L/Min). The digital display indicates both temperature and air flow, with the ability to lock in settings. A power-interrupt reset safety feature prevents an unattended heat gun from resuming operation after a power failure.

Five preset programs are available for specific tasks:

  • Preset 1: 250°F (120°C) at 8 CFM for applying specialty composites
  • Preset 2: 450°F (230°C) at 12 CFM for shrinking tubing
  • Preset 3: 650°F (340°C) at 14 CFM for de-soldering circuit boards
  • Preset 4: 850°F (450°C) at 16 CFM for bending and forming plastics
  • Preset 5: 1000°F (540°C) at 12 CFM for soldering

Power requirements are 120V, 60 Hz, 11A. The unit features a red plastic housing with a black grip and nozzle.

Voltage and Power Specifications

  • Supply: 120V, 60 Hz, 11A
  • Cordset: 3-wire grounded cordset, 1.8 m (6')

Configuration Options

The series is offered in two primary configurations and several accessory kits to address specific workflow needs.

  • HG-1400: LCD dial-in heat gun, 120V
  • HG-1500: LCD programmable heat gun, 120V
  • Kits (HG-1400-KIT / HG-1500-KIT): Include the base unit plus a durable storage/carrying case and five attachments: 3½" spreader attachment, 1⅜" heat shrink attachment, ½" specialty connector attachment, ⅜" reducer attachment, and ⅝" pinpoint attachment.
  • HG-1400-B: LCD dial-in heat gun with bench stand and specialty attachment

The series supports a variety of optional accessories sold separately or in kits to modify the air stream for specific tasks, including nozzle shields, bench stands, storage cases, spreader attachments, shrink tubing attachments, specialty connector terminations, reducer attachments for directing hot air sources for soldering and welding PVC, and pinpoint attachments.

Key Product Differences

The HG-1400 model is described as an "LCD dial-in heat gun," while the HG-1500 is identified as an "LCD programmable heat gun." Both models share identical measurement ranges, power specifications, and physical dimensions of 208.3 L x 76.2 W x 185.4 mm H (8.2 x 3.0 x 7.3"). The net weight for the gun alone is 726 g (1.6 lb), while the kit configuration weighs 2.75 kg (6 lb). Both models carry UL and cUL approvals.
