Supported Applications
The Omega MFT Metric series comprises multiconductor feedthroughs designed for applications requiring multiple thermocouple sensors or protection tubes to pass through a wall, bulkhead, or vessel at a single opening. These compression-type fittings are engineered for pressure and vacuum applications when used with stainless steel ferrules.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The MFT Metric series is constructed from 416 SS (stainless steel) bodies and caps, providing heavy-duty performance suitable for high-pressure or vacuum environments. The fittings accommodate probe diameters ranging from 1 to 6 mm (0.040 to ¼"). Standard configurations include 316 SS ferrules, while OMEGALOK® ferrules are also standard features.
Important operational constraints regarding maintenance and safety:
- Ferrules must not be re-used; once the pusher part of the assembly presses against them, both steel and Teflon (PTFE) ferrules become deformed. Ferrules should always be replaced when re-using the feedthrough.
- If any leakage is detected, pressure must be returned to atmosphere immediately before repairing or replacing fittings.
- Parts from other manufacturers should not be mixed or interchanged; only Omega parts are recommended to prevent product failure.
Configuration Options
The series supports a wide range of configurations defined by sheath diameter, probe count, and thread type. Models follow the naming convention MFT--, with an optional "-BSPT" suffix for metric ISO T/BPST threads.
Probe Capacity and Sheath Sizes
The series accommodates probe diameters from 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm, supporting between 3 and 16 probes in a single fitting depending on the sheath size:
- MFT-M10 (1.0 mm): Supports 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 16 probes.
- MFT-M15 (1.5 mm): Supports 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 16 probes.
- MFT-M30 (3.0 mm): Supports 3, 4, 6, or 8 probes.
- MFT-M45 (4.5 mm): Supports 3 or 5 probes.
- MFT-M60 (6.0 mm): Supports 3 probes.
Ferrule Materials and Options
All fittings are supplied with stainless steel ferrules as standard. PTFE ferrules are available by adding the "-PTFE" suffix to the model number, incurring an additional cost per ferrule (one required for each conductor). Replacement ferrules are offered in both 316 SS and PTFE materials across all metric diameters.
Mounting Threads
The series is available with NPT or ISO T/BPST threads. To order the metric version, add "-BSPT" to the model number at no additional charge. Thread sizes correspond to probe capacity:
- ¼": Used for MFT-M10 and MFT-M15 models with 3 or 5 probes.
- ½": Used for MFT-M10, MFT-M15 (6–8 probes), MFT-M30 (3–4 probes), and MFT-M45 (3 probes).
- ¾": Used for MFT-M10, MFT-M15 (10–16 probes), MFT-M30 (6–8 probes), MFT-M45 (5 probes), and MFT-M60.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ primarily by sheath diameter, number of conductors supported, thread size, and ferrule material. The "-PTFE" suffix denotes units equipped with PTFE ferrules instead of standard 316 SS ferrules.
Optional accessories include Male Threaded Caps (models FTN-1 for ¾", FTN-1-12 for ½", and FTN-1-14 for ¼" NPT) which replace the standard cap locking nut. PTFE tape is also available as an accessory.

What are the temperature and pressure limits of the MFT series of feedthroughs?
Thank you for your inquiry. These feedthroughs temperature rating is 899°C maximum. The pressure rating is 5,000 PSI.
