Supported Applications

The Series DW-USB-LCD Compact USB Data Loggers are designed for users who need to monitor and record environmental and process conditions almost anywhere and then review the results simply by plugging the module directly into a PC's USB port. Depending on the model selected, the series records temperature, relative humidity, dew point, or external thermocouple temperature, making it well suited to cold-chain monitoring, storage and warehouse surveys, laboratory and cleanroom logging, HVAC verification, and general facilities and equipment temperature studies.

Each logger carries an easy-to-read LCD that shows the current reading together with the minimum and maximum values recorded since the last reset, so an operator can confirm conditions at a glance without a computer. Built-in LEDs signal logging status and whether a programmable high or low alarm has been exceeded, allowing the loggers to be deployed in unattended locations and audited later. When the protective cap is fitted the housing resists moisture to IP67, extending use into wash-down areas and damp environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Measurement capability depends on the model. The temperature-only logger measures -31 to 176°F (-35 to 80°C), and the temperature/humidity/dew point models add a relative humidity range of 0 to 100% RH over the same temperature span. The external-thermocouple logger reads a K-type range of -328 to 2372°F (-200 to 1300°C), a J-type range of -202 to 1652°F (-130 to 900°C), and a T-type range of -328 to 662°F (-200 to 350°C), and reads 32 to 752°F (0 to 400°C) with the supplied probe.

Reported temperature resolution is 1°F (0.5°C) and humidity resolution is 0.5% RH. Accuracy varies by model, ranging from ±4°F (2°C) on the standard temperature/humidity logger to ±3°F (1.5°C) on the temperature-only and high-accuracy models, while the thermocouple logger is specified to ±2°F (1°C) for the data logger itself. Humidity accuracy is quoted as ±3% RH from 20 to 80% RH on the standard model and ±2% RH from 20 to 80% RH on the high-accuracy model.

The loggers are powered by a user-replaceable 3.6 V 1/2 AA lithium metal battery, which is included. The housing is an ABS plastic blend and the interface is a standard USB port; the units carry CE and RoHS. Leaving a logger plugged into a computer for an extended period will considerably lower battery life, and a periodic check of system calibration is recommended.

Configuration Options

The four LCD models are differentiated chiefly by what they sense and by small physical changes to the housing that support each sensor type:

• DW-USB-1-LCD is a temperature-only logger in a standard body with a transparent cap and red/green LED.
• DW-USB-2-LCD adds relative humidity and dew point and uses a vented body so the humidity sensor is exposed to ambient air.
• DW-USB-2-HA-LCD is the high-accuracy temperature/humidity/dew point version, sharing the vented body but delivering tighter temperature and humidity accuracy for applications that demand it.
• DW-USB-6-LCD is the external-thermocouple model; it accepts a basic K-type thermocouple and supports J-type and T-type sensors, giving it by far the widest temperature span in the series. Its accuracy figure applies to the data logger only.

All four models share the same LCD, which can be run in an "LCD off" mode to conserve power, and use the same LED indicator scheme to show logging, delayed start, alarm, and memory-full conditions.

The Series DW-USB-LCD is not field serviceable and should be returned if repair is needed; field repair may void the warranty.
