Supported Applications

The HX93B and HX93BD Series are temperature and relative humidity transmitters that provide remote and on-site monitoring, outputting a linearized current or voltage signal proportional to both measured parameters. Relative humidity output is temperature compensated, and the HX93BD models add a built-in digital display so a reading can be taken directly at the sensor.

Offered in wall-mount, duct-mount, and remote-probe configurations, the series fits HVAC and building automation, clean-room and laboratory environments, storage and process rooms, and OEM equipment where humidity and temperature must be transmitted to a controller or datalogger. A gray polycarbonate housing, stainless steel mesh-type filter, and M12 connector make the units durable and easy to service; the temperature/relative humidity probe is field replaceable (except on the duct-mount model).

The transmitters are CE and UKCA marked with optional NIST calibration. They are not intended for condensing humidity conditions. Duct-mount and remote-probe models include a duct mount kit.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures relative humidity from 0 to 100% and temperature over a standard range of -30 to 75°C (-22 to 167°F) (a special -20 to 75°C (-4 to 167°F) range is also offered). Accuracy is specified by band:

  • Temperature: ±0.6°C from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F); ±1.25°C from -30 to 0°C (-22 to 32°F) and 50 to 75°C (122 to 167°F)
  • Relative humidity: ±2.5% from 20 to 80% RH; ±3.5% from 5 to 20% and 80 to 95% RH; ±4% from 0 to 5% and 95 to 100% RH
  • Repeatability: ±0.1% RH, ±0.2°C (0.4°F)
  • Resolution: 0.1% RH, 0.1°C (0.1°F)

Temperature response time is 5 seconds minimum to 30 seconds maximum, and relative humidity response time is 8 seconds, with the sensor sampling once every 4 seconds. Input voltage is 30 Vdc maximum, with the HX93B series running on 9 to 30 Vdc and the HX93BV2 series on 12 to 30 Vdc. Cable entry is a liquid-tight nylon gland for 2.50 to 8.00 mm (0.09 to 0.315") diameter cable, and the internal 6-position terminal block accepts 14 to 22 gauge wire.

The probe measures Ø16 mm (Ø0.63 in) with a 71.88 mm (2.83 in) stem, and the housing (without probe) is 80.01 L x 82.30 W x 55.63 D mm (3.15 x 3.24 x 2.19 in). The enclosure is rated NEMA 13 (IP54). HX93BD models feature two 4-digit backlit LCDs updating at one reading per second.

Configuration Options

The lineup is organized along three independent choices, which combine to define each model:

  • Display: HX93B (transmitter only) or HX93BD (transmitter/indicator with built-in digital display)
  • Output: specify 'C' for 4 to 20 mA, 'V0' for 0 to 1 Vdc, 'V1' for 0 to 5 Vdc, or 'V2' for 0 to 10 Vdc — each spanning 0 to 100% RH and -30 to 75°C (-22 to 167°F)
  • Mounting: wall mount (base), duct mount (-D), or remote probe (-RP1)

The output choice sets the electrical interface only; all outputs cover the same full RH and temperature spans. Voltage-output V2 (0 to 10 Vdc) units require the higher 12 to 30 Vdc supply. Duct-mount and remote-probe models ship with a duct mount kit, and the remote-probe (-RP1) versions are the heaviest at 352 g (12.4 oz) versus 251 g (8.9 oz) for the base wall-mount transmitter.

Key Product Differences

Each model number is built as HX93B (or HX93BD for display) plus an output code and a mounting suffix. The base ordering configurations are:

  • HX93B(*) — Wall mount temperature and relative humidity transmitter
  • HX93B(*)-D — Duct mount temperature and relative humidity transmitter
  • HX93B(*)-RP1 — Remote probe temperature and relative humidity transmitter
  • HX93BD(*) — Wall mount, digital display transmitter/indicator
  • HX93BD(*)-D — Duct mount, digital display transmitter/indicator
  • HX93BD(*)-RP1 — Remote probe, digital display transmitter/indicator

Applying the output codes yields the full range of models, including current-output units such as HX93BC, HX93BC-D and HX93BDC, and voltage-output units such as HX93BV0, HX93BV1, HX93BV2 and their -D and -RP1 variants (for example HX93BDV2-RP1).

Accessories include the TH-RP field-replaceable remote probe with 3 m (10') cable and M12 connector, the TH-SP short probe, the HX92-CAL calibration kit with 11 and 75% relative humidity standards, regulated power supplies (PSR-24S, PSR-24L, PSR-24L-230), the TX4-100 shielded transmitter cable, CAL-3-HU NIST-traceable calibration, and the IND-KIT spare duct mount kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great even in a dirty environment I got several of these units for capturing ambient temperature and humidity around some of the batch mixers in my plant. The units were easy to set up and were quite reliable, especially considering the dirty environment that they lived in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Generally very good. Although they are expensive it is nice to have both the display and the analog output. They are generally reliable for extended periods of time. However, one of the last two I purchased was dead out of the box. That was not something I had seen before, having used dozens of this generation and the previous generation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unknown functionality due to manufacturing issue I bought this sensor and it was labeled properly HX93BV2 for the 0-10Vdc version on the outside but on the inside, the printed circuit board is marked as "C" indicating it's a 4-20mA version. So I exchanged it and alas, the second one has the same assembly issue.

I have an HX93BDC that I bought some time ago to have as a spare for one in service. I powered it up today and the analog outputs are working properly but there is no display. The backlight works, but no readout of temperature or humidity.

Asked by: Mike01
Hi Mike01 Thank you for the inquiry. Please check connections to the display board. For further assistance please forward request to TEMP@OMEGA.COM. Best regards OMEGA

Is the chassis ground terminal, #5, for safety grounding only, or does connecting this affect the performance of the device?

Asked by: CharlieP
Hi CharlieP Thank you for the inquiry. 5 and 4 terminals are internally connected. These are used as common (-) return side of power source. This is not a safety ground connection. Best regards OMEGA

Can we calibrate the HX93BC? If so how would we do this, if not can we send it back to you for calibration? What would you recommend?

Asked by: wjwhite
Hi wjwhite, Thank you for the inquiry. HX93BC needs to be returned to Omega for calibration service. Best regards, OMEGA

This sensor can be used to measure RH and temperature in a biogas stream with % CH4: 50-60 % CO2: 30-4 % O2: 1-2 ppm H2S: 1000-3000 ppm Temperature: 30-50 ° C Pressure: 1-1.

Asked by: jimontoy
Hi JLMontoy Thank you for the inquiry. This sensor would not be compatible with the detailed process gas combination. These are calibrated in an standard air environment. Best regards OMEGA

Does the HX93BDC have calibration certificate available from Omega? We are using it only for personal comfort in a lab but wanted to see if we should calibrate it prior to installation or if it is factory calibrated and meets accuracy specs as received.

Asked by: Doug88
Hi Doug88, Thank you for the inquiry. The HX93BDC units are calibrated to factory specs. They do not require extra calibration before service. Certificate of conformance is included with your order. Best regard OMEGA
