Supported Applications

The Omega iTHX-W3 Series is a temperature and humidity virtual chart recorder designed for network-enabled monitoring. Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures temperature, relative humidity, and dew point. Measurement ranges vary by configuration: the standard iTHX-W3 supports -40 to 124°C (-40 to 254°F) for temperature and 0 to 100% RH. A narrow range option is available for 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F). Accuracy specifications are tiered by temperature: ±0.5°C (±1°F) from 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F); ±1°C (up to ±1°C) from 0 to 5°C and 45 to 70°C (32 to 41°F and 113 to 158°F); and ±1.5°C (up to ±1.5°C) for -40 to 5°C and 45 to 124°C (-40 to 41°F and 113 to 255°F). Humidity accuracy is listed as ±2.75% from 10 to 90% RH, ±3% from 5 to 10% and 90 to 95% RH, and ±4% for 0 to 5% and 95 to 100% RH.

Resolution is specified as 0.1°C (14 bit) with a repeatability of ±0.1°C. Response time ranges from 5 to 30 seconds, tau 63%. Operating temperature for the iTHX-W3 unit is 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F), while the operating process temperature for industrial probe models iTHX-W3-2 or iTHX-W3-5 extends from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Storage temperature capability is -40 to 125°C (-40 to 257°F).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable probe types and lengths via specific model numbers. The iTHX-W3 includes a commercial wand probe on a 152 mm (6") cable with a DB9 connector. Industrial configurations include the iTHX-W3-2 with a 51 mm (2") probe on a 0.9 m (3') cable, and the iTHX-W3-5 with a 137 mm (5") probe on a 3 m (10') cable.

Connectivity is provided via Ethernet (RJ45) supporting fixed or auto-negotiating 10/100BASE-T. The device functions as an embedded web server delivering real-time data and live updated charts, with support for TCP/IP packets. Supported protocols include TCP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, NTP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and Telnet.

Power is supplied via a 5 Vdc @ 200 mA input using an included safety-qualified AC power adaptor (100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz). The enclosure utilizes a Valox® 364 PBT case with a wall mount bracket. Approvals include CE and FCC-B; NIST-traceable calibration certificates are available as an option.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between commercial wand probes and industrial probe configurations based on the model suffix:

• iTHX-W3: Features a commercial wand probe with 152 mm (6") cable length.
• iTHX-W3-2: Equipped with an industrial 51 mm (2") probe on a 0.9 m (3') cable; supports extended process temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F).
• iTHX-W3-5: Equipped with an industrial 137 mm (5") probe on a 3 m (10') cable; supports extended process temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F).

Replacement probes and accessories are available, including the iTHP-W-6 wand probe, iTHP-2-DB9 industrial probe (2"), and iTHP-5-DB9 industrial probe (5"). Probe caps include porous polyethylene options for wet environments and a 5 µm porosity stainless steel cap for dusty or pressurized (<35 psi) environments.
