The Dwyer Model 166T Telescoping Pitot Tube is an adjustable length instrument designed for sensing air flow in a wide range of duct sizes. It serves as a portable solution for almost any air velocity measurement where permanent mounting is not required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Model 166T features an adjustable insertion length ranging from 11.5 to 36 inches (29.2 to 91.4 cm), allowing it to replace up to five conventional fixed-length Pitot tubes. The telescoping sections lock in place as they are extended, enabling the use of a handheld grip to gauge proper alignment with the airstream.

Configuration Options

The series is constructed primarily of stainless steel and includes specific design features for portability and operation:

• Housing Material: Stainless steel telescoping tube with a black hand grip.
• Carrying Case: Includes a custom-fitted polyethylene carrying case to protect the instrument.
• Sensing Tip: Features very small sensing holes on the tip; requires flow reasonably clean and free from particulates.

Connections & Accessories

• Tubing: Flexible rubber tubing with terminal block connections marked 'S' for static pressure and 'T' for total pressure.
• Manometer Connection: Connect the static pressure to the minus (-) or low pressure port, and the total pressure to the positive (+) or high pressure port on a manometer or gage.

Key Product Differences

The Model 166T is offered as a single telescoping configuration. The design allows for quick adjustment of insertion length without requiring multiple fixed-length probes. Users must ensure the flexible rubber tubing moves freely through the opening in the end of the handle when extending or collapsing the tube.

• Tip extension requirement: The 1/8" diameter tip should always be extended to its full 3" (76.2 mm) length regardless of how far the telescopic sections are extended.
