Supported Applications
The Omega EHF Series consists of ceramic-insulated finned channel strip enclosure heaters designed for industrial and commercial applications. Documented uses include duct heating, space heaters, drying ovens, food warmers, dehumidifiers, shrinking tunnels, air heating, and heat curing.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The EHF series features a maximum sheath temperature of 650°C (1200°F). Electrical specifications support a maximum voltage of 480 Vac (when applicable) and a maximum amperage of 25 A. Wattage tolerance is specified as 5%, -10%.
Performance ratings vary by air condition:
- Still Air: Up to 3.1 W/cm² (20 W/in²) at temperatures up to 149°C (300°F); down to 1.6 W/cm² (10 W/in²) in the range of 316 to 427°C (600 to 800°F).
- Moving Air: At 3 m/sec, ratings reach up to 6.2 W/cm² (40 W/in²) for temperatures up to 93°C (up to 200°F); down to 3.1 W/cm² (20 W/in²) at 316°C (up to 600°F).
Configuration Options
The series is constructed with a 304 stainless steel sheath and nickel-plated steel fins, with stainless steel fins available as an option. The heater assembly utilizes high-purity magnesium oxide to fill voids for thermal conductivity and dielectric strength.
Dimensions & Mounting
- Cross-section: 51 mm (2") width including fins; 35 mm (1 3/8") height including fins.
- Lengths: Available up to 0.61 m (24"); tolerance is ± 1/16" for lengths up to 0.61 m and ± 1/8" for lengths over 0.61 m.
- Mounting Slots: Standard size is 8 x 13 mm (5/16 x 1/2"); slot size increases to 13 x 16 mm (1/2 x 5/8") when using secondary insulating bushings for voltages of 300V and above.
Electrical Connections & Options
- Standard Termination: 10-32 offset screw terminals (T4 style).
- Voltage Protection: Secondary insulating bushings (Model CERR-1001) are available for voltages above 300V. Two assemblies of secondary insulating bushings are required per heater.
- Cover Options: Igloo™ Ceramic Terminal Covers include Type C6 (CER-101-104), Type C7 (CER-101-106), Type C8 (CER-101-107), and Ceramic Cap (CER-102-101).
- Other Options: Type C Terminal Box and Type P High Temperature Quick Disconnect Plug.
