Supported Applications
The Omega LCKD Series consists of subminiature, button-style compression load cells designed for measuring compressive forces in industrial and test environments. These units are engineered as highly cost-effective solutions suitable for severe operating conditions where space is constrained. The series utilizes high-quality strain gages and precision manufacturing techniques to provide reliable force measurement.
Each LCKD unit features a load button machined as an integral part of the cell, requiring installation on a flat surface with a diameter matching the D1 dimension for proper operation. These products are not designed for use in human applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LCKD Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -65° to 225°F (-54 to 107°C), with a compensated temperature range specified as 60 to 160°F (16 to 71°C). The cells are constructed from stainless steel and carry an IP54 enclosure rating. Performance specifications include linearity of ±0.25% FSO, hysteresis of ±0.25% FSO, repeatability of ±0.10% FSO, and zero balance of ±2% FSO.
Temperature effects are documented as 0.01% full scale/°F for Zero and 0.01% of reading/°F for Span. The bridge resistance is a minimum of 350 Ω using bonded foil gages, with an excitation voltage requirement of 5 Vdc (7 Vdc maximum). Full-scale deflection ranges from 0.001" to 0.003", and the safe overload limit is rated at 150%.
Configuration Options
The series offers a broad measurement envelope covering capacities from 1 kg (9.8 N) up to 1000 lb (4448 N). Standard inch-based models include LCKD-1KG, LCKD-5, LCKD-10, LCKD-25, LCKD-50, LCKD-100, LCKD-250, LCKD-500, and LCKD-1000. Metric models (LCMKD) are also available in the series documentation with capacities ranging from 10 N to 5000 N.
Key configurable dimensions vary by capacity range:
- Low Capacity Range (1 kg to 50 lb / 10 to 200 N): D1 diameter of 9.6 mm (0.38"), H height of 3.0 mm (0.12").
- Mid Capacity Range (100 to 250 lb / 500 to 1000 N): D1 diameter of 13 mm (0.50"), H height of 3.8 mm (0.15").
- High Capacity Range (500 to 1000 lb / 2000 to 5000 N): D1 diameter of 19 mm (0.75"), H height of 6.4 mm (0.25").
All units include a 1.5 m (5 ft) four-conductor insulated cable with an integrated temperature compensation board. The output signal is nominally 2 mV/V, and each unit ships with a calibration sheet stating full-scale output.
Electrical Connections
The wiring code for the LCKD Series is standardized as follows:
- RED: (+) EXCITATION
- BLACK: (-) EXCITATION
- GREEN: (-) OUTPUT
- WHITE: (+) OUTPUT
Key Product Differences
The LCKD Series is distinguished by its subminiature button form factor and all-stainless-steel construction. The series includes both standard inch-based models (LCKD prefix) and metric-capacity variants (LCMKD prefix), though the primary focus of this bundle is the LCKD line.
Physical dimensions, specifically D1 diameter and H height, scale with capacity to maintain structural integrity across ranges from 2.2 lb up to 1000 lb. The series incorporates a miniature printed circuit board within the lead wire for temperature compensation; this component must not be removed or cut between the board and load cell, as doing so voids calibration and warranty.
Calibration is provided via a 5-point NIST-traceable process with shunt data included. Compatible meters listed in documentation include DPIS, DP41-S, DP25B-S, and iSeries models for specific capacities.

I have a tight fit in an existing location for the LCKD-500. What is tolerance on the diameter and overall height of this sensor?
Hello, Tolerance will be DEC: XX +/- 0.01 AND XXX: +/- 0.005

Are these load cells suitable to use under vacuum (30 mbar)?
The LCKD Series load cells cannot be used in vacuum

What is the resolution of the LCKD series and LMCKD series? What is the accuracy of the sensors?
Combined accuracy of the LCKD/LCMKD Series load cell is 0.37% of the full scale range. Resolution depends on the how small of a signal change the instrumentation you are using to read the output signal can detect.
