Supported Applications

The Omega STYLE 3 RTD ELEMENT, 4 WIRES series consists of fast-response exposed RTD elements with lead wires designed for temperature measurement. These sensors feature thermal response times less than 75 milliseconds in water flowing at 3 feet per second and are configured to connect directly to most handheld instruments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports two primary operating ranges based on the insulation and potting material selected. Models with PFA lead wire and epoxy potting operate up to 230°C (450°F). Models utilizing fiberglass-insulated cable with ceramic potting are rated for temperatures up to 480°C (900°F).

Accuracy options include high-accuracy Class 'A' 100 Ω DIN Platinum elements as standard, along with ultra-precise accuracies of ½ DIN and ⅟₁₀ DIN. Economical Class 'B' accuracy is also available for lower-cost applications.

  • Class 'A': ±0.15°C @ 0°C (IEC CLASS A)
  • ½ DIN: ±0.04 Ω
  • ⅟₁₀ DIN: ±0.012 Ω
  • Class 'B': ±0.12 Ω

Note that ½ and ⅟₁₀ DIN accuracies are only available with wire-wound elements (specifically 1PT100K2515 and 1PT100KN2528) and require 4-wire construction.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options for lead count, cable length, insulation type, and termination style to accommodate diverse installation requirements.

  • Sensor Elements: F3105 (2 x 2 mm), F3102 (2 x 4 mm), 1PT100KN2528, and 1PT100K2515 wire-wound elements.
  • Lead Wire Configuration: Available in 2-, 3-, or 4-wire configurations with stripped leads as standard. Cable lengths are customizable; the model number digit '36' represents a specific length and can be changed to other values for additional cost per foot.
  • Insulation & Potting: PFA insulation with epoxy potting (up to 230°C) or fiberglass insulation with ceramic potting (up to 480°C / 900°F).
  • Bare Wire Option: To order sensors for use up to 600°C (1112°F), replace the 'T' or 'G' suffix in the model number with 'B'. These configurations feature bare wires and connections.

Termination & Accessories

Sensors can be ordered with various termination options, including miniature connectors (MTP-U-M), heavy-duty connectors (OTP-U-M), TA3F/TA4F connectors, or a 4 to 20 mA transmitter (SPRTX). The series is compatible with the HH804U complete high accuracy RTD thermometer featuring 2 DIN connectors.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within this series lies in the element size and insulation material, which dictate the maximum operating temperature. The F3105 (2 x 2 mm) and F3102 (2 x 4 mm) elements are available with either PFA/epoxy or fiberglass/ceramic construction depending on the required thermal limit.

Wire-wound elements, specifically models 1PT100K2515 and 1PT100KN2528, differ from standard film elements by supporting higher accuracy classes (½ DIN and ⅟₁₀ DIN) but are restricted to 4-wire configurations. Additionally, the series offers variations in lead count (2-, 3-, or 4-wire), which affects compatibility with specific instrumentation and measurement techniques.

What type and AWG wires are attached to this?

Asked by: sam8472
Hello, The part number RTD-1-F3141-24-T is manufactured using AWG 26 stranded conductor wire that is insulated with PFA Teflon. The part number you can look at for more details on that wire would be EXTT-2CU-26S.

Hello, would this ( RTD-(*)-F3105-36-T) be suitable for insertion into an aluminum block to get the block temperature? Thx

Asked by: Nima1995
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, you may use this RTD sensor to measure the aluminum block temperature but a better option would be the PR-10 series RTD probes: https://assets.omega.com/spec/PR-10_Spec.pdf
