Supported Applications
The Omega JP Series consists of standard size, color-coded thermocouple panel jack connectors designed for the decorative enhancement and flexible installation of temperature measurement instruments. These heavy-duty female connectors feature collet-type, spring-loaded contacts that accept solid or stranded wire up to 14 AWG.
Each connector is engineered with inserts matching ANSI thermocouple grade calibrations to ensure compatibility with specific sensor types. The series supports the following thermocouple alloys:
- Type K (CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA®)
- Type T (Copper-Constantan)
- Type J (Iron-Constantan)
- Type E (CHROMEGA-Constantan)
- Types R/S (Pt-Pt/13%Rh)
- Type G (W-W/26%Re)
- Type C (W/5%Re-W/26%Re)
- Type D (W/3%Re-W/25%Re)
- Type U (Uncompensated, used with Type B thermocouples)
- Type N (OMEGALLOY®)
Operating Conditions & Performance
The JP Series connectors are constructed from high-impact, glass-filled nylon rated for an ambient operating temperature range of -29 to 180°C (-20 to 356°F). While electrical properties remain unaffected at the upper limit, minor discoloration of the connector may occur between 150°C (302°F) and 180°C (356°F).
Configuration Options
The series offers a comprehensive selection of female connectors distinguished by shell color coding corresponding to ANSI designations. Each unit includes rugged metal mounting hardware, combination Phillips/Slot screws for installation, and securing clips.
Available configuration options include:
- Dust Caps: Optional patented design dust caps (Model SPJ-CAP).
- Mounting Hardware: Extra mounting clips available in Models MH-JP-1 and MH-JP-5.
- ID Labels: Extra ID number labels offered in ranges 1 thru 6, 12, 18, 24, 50, or 100 (Models 1-6L through 1-100L).
The series also supports the RJACL Panel Mounting Adaptor Plate, made of 0.76 mm (0.030") nickel-plated steel with a knock-out hole diameter of 33.3 mm (1.31 in) and overall dimensions of 46.0 x 36.3 mm (1.81 x 1.43 in).
Key Product Differences
Variants within the JP Series are defined by their specific alloy code, which dictates the compensating alloys used for the positive and negative terminals as well as the shell color.
- Type K connectors feature CHROMEGA/ALOMEGA compensation with a Yellow shell (Model JP-K-F).
- Type T connectors use Copper/Constantan with a Blue shell (Model JP-T-F).
- Type J connectors utilize Iron/Constantan with a Black shell (Model JP-J-F).
- Type E connectors employ CHROMEGA-Constantan with a Purple shell (Model JP-E-F).
- Types R/S use Copper and Alloy #11 compensation in a Green shell (Model JP-R/S-F).
- High-temperature types G, C, and D utilize specific Tungsten/Rhenium or CPX/CNX alloys with Red shells.
- Type U connectors are uncompensated (Copper-Copper) with a White shell (Model JP-U-F), intended for use with Type B thermocouples.
- Type N connectors feature OMEGA-P®/OMEGA-N® compensation in an Orange shell (Model JP-N-F).
