Supported Applications

The Omega Standard Accuracy Ceramic Wire Wound Platinum RTD Elements are Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) designed for extremely low or high temperatures. These elements, constructed by placing a coiled platinum wire into a ceramic core and sealing the ends with glass, are tolerant of thermal shocks. The series is specified for use in dry environments only.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The 1PT100K-RTD-ELEMENTS series operates across multiple temperature ranges depending on the specific model configuration: -200 to 600 °C (-330 to 1110 °F), -200 to 850 °C (-330 to 1560 °F), and -50 to 400 °C (-60 to 750 °F). The elements meet Class B Tolerance (Per IEC751) with an Alpha value of 0.00385.

Response times vary by model size and medium velocity:

  • Flowing Water V = 0.4 m/sec: 50% Response ranges from 0.2 to 0.4 sec; 90% Response ranges from 0.3 to 1.4 sec.
  • Moving Air V = 1 m/sec: 50% Response ranges from 3.0 to 26.8 sec; 90% Response ranges from 8.8 to 90.0 sec.

The series offers limited vibration resistance, which depends on the mounting method. Wetted materials include platinum wire, a ceramic core, and glass seals.

Configuration Options

This series supports various dimensional configurations to accommodate tight spaces or specific insertion requirements. Standard electrical connections feature 10 mm bare leads; welded insulated extension leads are available as an option. OMEGA's RTD MI Cable is also offered in a wide selection of conductor configurations and sheath materials.

Dimensions and Resistance

The series includes elements with insertion lengths from 8 mm to 30 mm and diameters ranging from 1.0 mm to 4.5 mm. Nominal resistance options include:

  • Single Element (1 x): 100 Ω, 500 Ω, and 1000 Ω.
  • Dual Element (2 x): 100 Ω configurations are available for specific models such as *2PT100K2517 and *2PT100KN3045.

Tight Space Configurations

Specific models (A2105*, A2132*, A2142*) are designed for tight spaces with leads perpendicular to the body for surface measurements. These variants feature dimensions such as 2 L x 2.4 W x 2 mm D and operate in the -50 to 400 °C (-60 to 750 °F) range.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ primarily by physical dimensions, nominal resistance values (1 x or 2 x), and temperature ranges. Self-heating error varies significantly based on size; for example, in flowing air V = 1 m/sec, self-heating errors range from 0.01 °C/mW to 0.28 °C/mW depending on the model.

Model numbers follow a structured guide indicating dimensions, nominal resistance, temperature range, and self-heating error (e.g., 1PT100KN815). Pricing is dependent on lead style. Dual element models are identified with an asterisk in documentation notes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from poor packaging The product was packaged very good and in a secure way for the ship, but the dimension of the boxes were bigger than of necesary . However the PT100 elements were not in the original blister where they could are more protected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bare leads way too short It would be extremely helpful if the bare leads came longer than 10 mm

What are the leads of these things made of ? They are very, very soft, and melt when soldered with 60/40 tin lead.

Asked by: Steveastrouk
The lead wires are palladium-gold alloy.
