Supported Applications
The Omega FLR-1600 Series comprises volumetric water flowmeters (FLR-1600A) and controllers (FLV-4600A) designed for precise measurement of deionized or distilled water. These devices utilize laminar flow elements to measure differential pressure within the laminar region, providing linear flow measurement with a typical turndown ratio of 50:1.
Strict media requirements apply; units are intended exclusively for pure, clean DI or distilled water. The use of tap water containing biological components, minerals, oils, or other impurities is prohibited as it causes corrosion and device failure not covered by warranty.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series delivers an accuracy of ±2% FS with a repeatability of ±2% FS. Operating temperature for the process fluid must be maintained between 10 to 50°C (50 to 122°F). Calibration is performed at ambient 21°C (70°F) and specific pressure points depending on flow range: air @ 5 psig for 0 to 1 LPM, 15 psig for 2 to 10 LPM, 30 psig for 20 to 100 LPM, and 50 psig for ranges of 200 LPM and greater.
Pressure ratings differ by device type: meters support up to 200 psig while controllers are rated to 150 psig. The minimum pressure drop required is 0.4 psid, with a recommended source input pressure meeting or exceeding the specification plus any downstream back pressure (approximate best results at 20-30 psig). Response time varies by model: FLR-1600A meters respond in 20 ms, while FLV-4600A controllers have a response time of 100 ms.

Configuration Options
The series offers a broad envelope of flow ranges, connection types, and output configurations. The FLR-1600A Series covers volumetric water flows from 500 microliters per minute to 10 liters per minute (ranges include CCM, LPM, SCCM, SLPM). The FLV-4600A Series functions as a controller with an integral proportional valve and PID control, available for ranges such as 50 milliliters per minute to 500 milliliters per minute.
Outputs & Communication
Standard output signals include 0 to 5 Vdc and RS232. Optional configurations provide 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 Vdc, or a second analog output signal scaled identically to the primary. For communication upgrades, adding the suffix "-RS485" replaces standard RS232 with RS485 digital I/O.
Process Connections & Wetted Materials
Available process connections include 10 to 32 thread, ⅛ FNPT, and ¼ FNPT. Wetted materials consist of 303, 302, and 316 SS; FKM; polythermide; silicone glass; and silicone rubber.
Power & Accessories
FLR-1600A meters operate on 7 to 30 Vdc (typical current 35 mA), while FLV-4600A controllers require 12 to 30 Vdc (typical current 250 mA). Accessories include replacement cables, multi-drop boxes, power supply adaptors, and battery cradles for portable versions. Portable models feature an integral battery compartment with a 9V battery installed.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between the FLR-1600A flowmeters and the FLV-4600A controllers based on functionality, pressure rating, response time, and power requirements. Model numbers indicate specific output configurations: standard models provide 0 to 5 Vdc; "-I" suffixes denote 4 to 20 mA outputs; "-I2" indicates dual 4 to 20 mA or combined analog/digital options depending on configuration notes; and "-V2" denotes a second 0 to 5 V output.
Additional model variations include the totalizer option (suffix "-TOT") which provides a 6-digit counter with user-specified resolution, alternate temperature scaling (suffix "-T"), or pressure scaling (suffix "-P"). Units scaled in CFH require the suffix "-CFH" and specification of the desired range. Physical dimensions vary by flow range; for example, FLR-1600A units with 5 to 10 SLPM ranges measure 129 mm x 102 mm x 41 mm (height/length/depth), while smaller SCCM models are more compact.

Is this suitable for use with diesel fuel?
Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, these units are not suitable for use with diesel fuel. The FLR-1600A and FLV-4600A models are only suitable for use with clean water.

Do these meters require a certain upstream and downstream straight length runs? If so, can you provide that information.
Thank you for your inquiry. The FLR-1600A series flow meters do not have straight run pipe requirements.
