Supported Applications
The Omega MTO series consists of stainless steel immersion heaters designed specifically for light weight oil applications. These units are engineered to provide direct heating within tanks or vessels containing compatible media.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The MTO-HEATER series operates on 120 and 240V, Single Phase power supplies. The heaters utilize steel sheath elements with a diameter of 0.315 Dia., configured in pairs (No. Elem.: 2). Power density is specified at either 10 W/in² or 20 W/in² depending on the selected wattage and model configuration.
Dimensional parameters vary by enclosure type:
- E1 General Purpose Enclosure: Overall height of 10.2 cm (4 in); Dimension B ranges from 32 cm (12½ in) to 96 cm (38 in).
- E2 Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant Enclosure: Overall height of 9.5 cm (3.75 in); Dimension B ranges from 32 cm (12½ in) to 96 cm (38 in).
All models require a minimum hole size of 3.5 cm (1.375 in). The process connection is provided via a 1¼ NPT Steel Screw Plug.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable power ratings, voltage options, and enclosure types to meet specific installation requirements.
- Power Ratings: Available in 0.5 kW, 1 kW, 2 kW, and 3 kW configurations.
- Voltage Options: Models are offered for 120V or 240V operation.
- Enclosure Types:
- E1: General Purpose terminal enclosure (UL recognized and CSA certified).
- E2: Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant terminal enclosure (CSA NRTL/C certified).
- Model Numbering: The series follows the format MTO-. Examples include MTO-105/120 for a 0.5 kW, E1 enclosure unit and MTO-130E2/240 for a 3 kW, E2 enclosure unit.
Wetted materials consist of steel sheath elements. Electrical connections are made through the 1¼ NPT Steel Screw Plug housing.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the MTO-HEATER series differ primarily by power output, voltage rating, and enclosure certification level.
- E1 vs. E2 Enclosures: The primary distinction is between General Purpose (E1) and Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant (E2) terminal enclosures. E2 models feature a ¾ NPT Conduit Opening, whereas the dimensional diagram for E1 indicates a hole for ¾" conduit without specifying an integrated opening in the same manner.
- Power Scaling: As power increases from 0.5 kW to 3 kW, Dimension B (overall length) scales accordingly: 32 cm (12½ in) for 0.5 and 1 kW models; 66 cm (26 in) for 2 kW models; and 96 cm (38 in) for 3 kW models.
- Weight Differences: E2 enclosures are heavier than their E1 counterparts at equivalent power ratings. For example, the 0.5 kW model weighs 2 lb (1 kg) with an E1 enclosure and 5 lb (2 kg) with an E2 enclosure.
