Supported Applications

The Omega GP911 Series consists of high precision analog gaging probes designed for displacement measurement applications requiring a high degree of repeatability. These transducers utilize proven LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) technology to provide excellent linearity in compact, reliable units suitable for harsh industrial environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The GP911 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 80°C (14 to 176°F) and supports storage temperatures from -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F). The probes feature a NEMA 12 (IP65) environmental rating. Performance specifications include linearity of 0.5% rdg or 0.1% FS, whichever is greater, and repeatability of 0.15 microns.

Electrical operation requires an excitation voltage between 1 to 10 Vrms at a frequency of 2 to 20 kHz. The calibration parameters are defined as 3 Vrms excitation at 5 kHz with a load resistance of 10 kΩ. Temperature coefficient is specified as 0.01% FS/°C, except for the ±0.5 mm model which lists 0.03%.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable measurement ranges and actuation methods to accommodate specific gaging needs:

  • Measurement Ranges: Available in ±0.5 mm (0.02 in), ±1 mm (0.04 in), ±2.5 mm (0.10 in), and ±5 mm (0.20 in).
  • Actuation Types: Models are offered with either spring-loaded or pneumatic actuation.
  • Housing Material: Constructed with stainless steel bodies.

Pneumatically actuated models (designated by the "-P" suffix) require a relative humidity of less than 60% for operation. The series supports various dimensional configurations depending on the selected range and actuation type, with overall lengths ranging from 46.0 mm (1.8 in) to 98.0 mm (3.86 in).

Key Product Differences

The GP911 Series distinguishes between spring-loaded models (suffix "-S") and pneumatically actuated models (suffix "-P"). The model number format follows the pattern GP911-<RANGE>-<ACTUATION>, such as GP911-5-S for a spring-loaded probe with ±5 mm stroke.

Pneumatic models exhibit different dimensional profiles compared to their spring-loaded counterparts. For example, the 2.5 mm range pneumatic model (GP911-2.5-P) has an overall length of 73.0 mm (2.88 in), while the equivalent spring-loaded unit (GP911-2.5-S) measures 72.5 mm (2.8 in). The ±0.5 mm range is available only as a spring-loaded variant.
