Supported Applications
The Omega SLK/SLF series provides spring loading options designed for the installation of sensors into thermowells and other applications. These fittings are engineered to simplify sensor installation on any ¼" diameter probe, including RTD, Thermocouple, or Thermistor types. The self-gripping spring design offers unlimited adjustability, making these components suitable for installing replacement sensors in existing thermowell configurations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is manufactured to be RoHS compliant and Made in USA. While specific operating temperature ranges or pressure ratings are not defined in the source documentation, the spring material is specified as 0.89 (0.035) diameter music wire conforming to ASTM A228.
Configuration Options
The SLK/SLF series supports two primary configurations for ½ NPT connection heads and ports:
- ¼-SLK Spring Loading Kit: Includes a hex housing with ½ NPT male thread and a self-gripping spring. The overall dimension of the hex housing is 26.97 mm (1.062 in).
- SLF-12-12-14 Spring Loaded Fitting: A fitting with ½ NPT male threads on both ends, containing a self-gripping spring inside the housing. The overall dimension is 47.75 mm (1.88 in).
Both variants are designed for probes with a diameter of 0.25" (¼"). Installation instructions are included with each unit.
Installation and Adjustment Details
- For the ¼-SLK: The hex housing slides onto the probe with the ½ NPT threads oriented toward the thermowell or attachment point. The self-gripping spring is then slid onto the probe with the wide end facing the hex housing and positioned as needed.
- For the SLF-12-12-14: Installation involves sliding the probe tip into the larger opening of the fitting, twisting clockwise while pushing through. The assembly can be pulled to re-adjust the position if required.
Dimensional Specifications
- Gripping end of spring (SLF-12-12-14): 44.45 mm (1.75 in).
- Housing dimensions: As noted above for the specific model variants.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two models lies in their physical configuration and intended mounting interface:
- The ¼-SLK is a spring loading kit comprising a separate hex housing with ½ NPT threads, designed to be assembled onto an existing probe.
- The SLF-12-12-14 is a complete fitting featuring ½ NPT male threads on both ends with the self-gripping spring pre-installed within the housing structure.

Having issues with installing our exposed junction probes in the SLF-12-12-14. Seems like they are getting caught up on the spring before they can come out. Any tips to get them installed?
You would need to make sure the exposed end portion is within the perimeter of the probe OD then insert it very straight through the spring with extreme care.

Does the SLF-12-12-14 Leak with the probe installed? Is there a sealed cap?
Thank you for your inquiry. This does not provide a sealed connection with a probe.
