The series serves as a primary power source for field installations and functions as a backup power supply, providing up to 40 days of operation during periods of darkness.

The Model SPK operates within an ambient temperature range of -40° F to +158° F (-40° C to +70° C). The system delivers a typical output of 17 V at 290 mA. It includes a high-efficiency series PWM charge controller featuring temperature compensation and built-in lightning protection.
Configuration Options
The Model SPK kit is configured for mounting on vertical pipe using included hardware. The system requires an external power storage component to function, specifically a 12V Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery which is not included in the package.

- Alternative Batteries: Marine/RV grade or automotive batteries may be used but must be upsized in Amp-hour capacity by two to four times for equivalent service life.
Installation and Maintenance Notes
- The solar panel should be oriented toward the midday sun with no significant shading.
- An enclosure housing the battery and charge controller must be white or shiny metallic to minimize heat build-up, or shaded if other colors are used; venting is recommended for safety.
- A 1 Amp time lag (slow-blow) fuse should be installed at the positive battery connection using a weatherproof holder in unprotected locations.

The Model SPK is offered as a single configuration kit. The series does not include variations for different output voltages or mounting styles beyond the standard 1-1/2 to 2 inch vertical pipe bracket provided in the package.
