Snubber-Series

Snubber Series

  • Protects pressure instruments: ACI Snubber Series devices help protect pressure gauges, transducers, and control instruments from shock, surges, and pressure fluctuations.
  • Reduces water hammer effects: Porous filter design dampens flow and pressure spikes caused by water hammer and pulsating systems.
  • Built for demanding applications: Ideal for pumps, compressors, chillers, hydraulic systems, wastewater, fluid power systems, manifolds, and petrochemical applications.
  • Durable stainless steel construction: 316 stainless steel body supports use with compatible air, gases, water, and low-viscosity fluids.
  • Application-specific filter options: Available in 7-micron air/gas and 20-micron water/fluid versions to match the monitored media.
  • High pressure and temperature ratings: Rated up to 5000 PSI and 1000°F for tough pressure-monitoring environments.
  • Standard connection size: 1/4" NPT male/female threading simplifies installation with compatible gauges, transducers, and piping assemblies.
  • Backed by ACI reliability: Covered by ACI’s two-year limited warranty for added confidence in pressure protection applications.

Supported Applications

The ACI Snubber Series is designed to protect pressure gauges, transducers, and other control instruments by reducing flow and dampening shock caused by water hammer and fluctuating pressure effects. The porous filter design supports use with air, gases, and low viscosity fluids compatible with 316 Stainless Steel. Documented applications include fire pumps, centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps, boiler feed pumps, compressors, chillers, pressure switches, hydraulic presses, hydraulic systems, waste water facilities, fluid power systems, orifice meters, manifolds, and the petrochemical industry.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for a maximum process temperature of 1000°F (537°C) and a maximum pressure of 5000 PSI (344 Bar). The porous filter element provides specific filtration sizes based on media type: 7 Microns for Air / Gases and 20 Microns for Water / Fluids. Wetted materials consist entirely of 316 Stainless Steel, ensuring compatibility with the specified air, gas, and fluid applications.

Configuration Options

The Snubber Series is offered in two standard configurations distinguished by their filter size to match specific media requirements:

  • Air / Gas Snubber (Model A/0.25" SNUBBER A/G, Item 137105): Features a 7 Micron filter.
  • Water / Fluid Snubber (Model A/0.25" SNUBBER WTR, Item 137104): Features a 20 Micron filter.

Both variants share the following physical and connection specifications:

  • Housing Material: 316 Stainless Steel
  • Process Connection: 1/4" NPT (Male / Female Thread)
  • Overall Length: 1.376" to 1.40" depending on measurement reference point in documentation
  • Diameter: 0.280" (7.112mm)
  • Hex Width/Size: 0.750" / 3/4"

The series is RoHS Compliant and covered by ACI's Two (2) Year Limited Warranty.

Key Product Differences

Variation within the Snubber Series is defined strictly by the filter micron rating required for the application media. The Air / Gas model utilizes a finer 7 Micron element, while the Water / Fluid model uses a coarser 20 Micron element to accommodate different flow characteristics and particulate loads associated with liquids versus gases.
