Supported Applications
The Omega SEPHB series consists of heavy-duty, explosion-resistant silicone rubber flexible heating blankets designed for surface heating in hazardous locations. These heaters are intended for use on both flat and curved surfaces where efficient and safe heating is required.
Documented application environments include:
- Hazardous areas certified as Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, & D
- Hazardous areas certified as Class II, Division 2, Groups F & G
- Areas with high radioactivity
- Environments containing chemical fluids and oils commonly encountered in field service
The series is resistant to weather, moisture, sunlight, and ozone gases.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The SEPHB series operates within a process temperature range of -60°F to 400°F (-51°C to 204°C). The maximum exposure temperature is rated at 232°C (450°F).
Key performance specifications include:
- Power Supply: 120, 240, or 480V (contact OMEGALUX® for 480V heaters)
- Wattage Options: 180, 360, 720, or 1440 W
- Dielectric Strength: 2000V
- Watt Density: 2.5 W/in²
All SEPHB blankets have T ratings described in Article 501 of the NEC code; they should not be used in an area with a lower T rating than the blanket.
Safety and Installation Constraints
- Heaters must never be operated without a temperature control device. For SEPHB series, a NRLL (National Recognized Testing Laboratory) listed temperature controller approved for the area is required to control surface temperature.
- The metal enclosure must not support more than 10lbs (4.5kg).
- Do not immerse heater in liquid or wrap over itself.
- Avoid sharp metal objects and severe physical stress on the heater or cord assembly.
Configuration Options
The SEPHB series is configurable across multiple dimensions to meet specific heating requirements. The model number construction follows the format: SEPHB----.
Dimensions and Wattage
The series offers various rectangular and square dimensions paired with specific wattages:
- 152 x 305 mm (6 x 12 in): Available at 180 W
- 152 x 610 mm (6 x 24 in): Available at 360 W
- 305 x 305 mm (12 x 12 in): Available at 360 W
- 305 x 610 mm (12 x 24 in): Available at 720 W
- 610 x 610 mm (24 x 24 in): Available at 1440 W
Safety Features and Options
- Built-in High-Limit Thermal Cutout: All units include a high-limit thermostat with selectable temperature ratings.
- Thermostat Codes: T4A (70°C / 158°F) or T3 (145°C / 292°F).
- Mounting Options: Optional Pressure Sensitive Adhesive is available. The adhesive cures when the blanket is energized, generally in twenty minutes at 200°F (93°C) in a 68°F (20°C) ambient environment.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the SEPHB series are distinguished by voltage input, wattage output, physical dimensions, and high-limit thermostat settings. The model number suffix indicates the specific configuration:
- Voltage Input: Models are available for 120V or 240V operation (e.g., -120 or -240). 480V heaters require contacting OMEGALUX®.
- Thermostat Rating: The final segment of the model number specifies the high-limit cutout temperature, either T3 (145°C / 292°F) or T4A (70°C / 158°F).
The series is designed for long service life with reliability and safety in mind. Heaters are non-polarized, allowing either power lead wire to be connected to the neutral or hot; a third green wire (or green stripe) should be connected to ground.

Are these blanket coda approved for use in Canadian offshore applications
The Heaters have many approvals detailed in the bullets of the product and data sheets. Unfortunately CODA approval is not one of them so you would need to research to see if any of the existing approvals crossover to CODA's requirements.
