Supported Applications
The Omega SHDH and SSDH Series consist of OMEGALUX® silicone rubber laminated heavy duty drum heaters designed as electrical resistance heaters in blanket form. These units provide a practical means for freeze protection, viscosity control, melting solids, and maintaining materials at elevated temperatures on standard drums.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is rated for a Maximum Continuous Exposure Temperature of 232°C (450°F). The heaters are constructed with multi-strand nickel-chromium heating elements insulated with two applications of high temperature fiberglass yarn and knitted into tape form. These tapes are laminated between multiple layers of silicone impregnated fiberglass cloth and include a dense grounding grid of tinned copper wire.
Configuration Options
The series supports four drum sizes: 5 gallon, 15 gallon, 30 gallon, and 55 gallon. Power ratings range from 550 W to 1200 W depending on the selected capacity. The heaters are available with power supply options of 120V or 240V.

Electrical and Control Options
- Supplied with a 6" HSJO 3-prong plug on applicable voltages; plugs are not provided on 240V drum heaters.
- Optional OMEGALUX thermostatic control is available, adjustable from 50° to 425°F.
- Remote temperature control is recommended (see CPP and CBC Series).
Safety and Approvals
- Certified with CE approval.
- SSDH & SHDH Series Drum Heaters are not approved for use in any hazardous classified area.
- A certified 3-prong plug is required to alleviate static charges; standard 2-prong receptacles must not be used due to self-grounding requirements.
Key Product Differences
The series includes two primary model families: SHDH and SSDH. Model numbers follow the format <Series>-<Capacity>-<Wattage>-<Length>-<Volts> (e.g., SHDH-1200-240). Models designated with a "C" suffix in the model number indicate units equipped with an adjustable thermostat. The 5 gallon variant length differs between standard models and those with thermostats, measuring 35.8" long for standard configurations and 31" long for thermostat-equipped versions.
