Supported Applications

The Michell SF82 Transmitter is a rugged, two-wire dew-point transmitter designed for the continuous measurement of moisture content in gases. The series is engineered specifically for industrial dryer applications requiring precise humidity monitoring.

Suitable media include non-corrosive gases, clean dry air, and inert gases. The device measures dew point directly to determine gas moisture levels within specified operating envelopes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SF82 series operates across a measurement range of -60 to +20 °C (-76 to +68 °F). Accuracy is rated at ±0.5 °C (±0.9 °F) with repeatability of ±0.2 °C and resolution of 0.1 °C. The response time (T90) is less than 10 seconds.

Process and ambient operating temperatures range from -40 to +85 °C, matching the storage temperature limits. The transmitter supports a pressure rating of 0 to 10 bar with a burst pressure limit of 100 bar. It maintains an IP67 enclosure rating and withstands vibration up to 10–500 Hz at 1.5 mm amplitude and shock loads of 100 g for 11 ms.

Electrical requirements include a power supply of 12–30 VDC with a maximum load resistance of 500 Ω. The device carries CE and FCC Part 15 approvals.

Configuration Options

The SF82-TX series offers configurable process connections, measurement ranges, electrical interfaces, and protective options to accommodate specific installation requirements.

  • Process Connections: Available in G1/2" BSPP, 3/4" - 16 UNF, or 5/8" 18 UNF threads.
  • Measurement Ranges: Standard scaled ranges include -60/+60°Cdp, -50/+50°Cdp, -50/+30°Cdp, -80/+20°Cdp, and -20/+50°Cdp. Non-standard measurement ranges are available upon request.
  • Output Signals: Configurable for 4–20 mA analog output or RS485 / Modbus RTU digital communication (enabled via M12 connector selection).
  • Electrical Connectors: Options include MiniDIN 43650 or M12 5 Pin connectors. Note that the mating connector is not supplied and must be ordered separately.
  • Protection: Standard configuration includes an HMWPE guard for protection against fine particulates (<10 μm).

The series supports various accessories including sample blocks, sampling kits (atmospheric or high pressure), PTFE tubing, and replacement parts such as sensor elements and connector assemblies.
