Supported Applications

The Omega DBCL130 Dry Block Temperature Calibrator provides a safe, dry, constant temperature source for checking and calibrating a wide range of temperature sensors, systems, indicators, and thermometers. Designed for bench-top or portable field use, the unit utilizes a machined aluminum block as the heat transfer medium to establish stable thermal conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DBCL130-Series covers a measurement range of -25°C/-13°F to 130°C/266°F. Accuracy is specified as ±0.4°C (-20 to 130°C) and ±0.7°F (-4 to 266°F), with a display resolution of 0.1°. The unit operates within an ambient temperature range of 5°C/9°F to 40°C/104°F and supports humidity up to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing.

Performance timing varies by transition direction:

  • Heat up time -20 to 130°C: 5 minutes
  • Heat up time 20 to 100°C: 2 minutes
  • Cool down 20 to -20°C: 3 minutes (ambient of +20°C)
  • Cool down 130 to 20°C: 2.5 minutes

The minimum achievable temperature is 45°C/80°F below the room ambient temperature. Specifications are quoted for an ambient temperature range of 10°C/50°F to 30°C/86°F; outside this range, figures may deteriorate while safe operation continues.

Configuration Options

The series is configured with a machined aluminum block housing and includes electrical connections via a power cable that varies by region (UK 240V, Euro 240V, US 120V). The unit weighs 15 lbs (6.8 Kg) with overall dimensions of 11 x 9 x 8 inches / 279 x 229 x 203 mm excluding the carrying strap.

Available accessories and options include:

  • Power cables: UK 240 volt (DBCL-UKCABLE), Euro style 240 volt with R/A Schuko plug (Part No. 4164), US style 120 volt (Part No. 4150)
  • Cases and handling: Unit carrying strap (Part No. 4168), Soft sided carrying case (DBCL-3052)
  • Insert extractor (Part No. 4285)
  • Probe inserts for diameters: 1/8" (DBCL-130-3074), 3/16" (DBCL-130-3075), ¼" (DBCL-130-3076), 5/16" (DBCL-130-3077), and 3/8" (DBCL-130-3078)

Replacement parts listed for the unit include Peltier (4224), Temperature controller (4174), PRT (4147), Solid state relay (4221), Power supply (4223), 3 PDT power relay (4280), and a 2 amp fuse, 5 x 20mm (4283).

Key Product Differences

The DBCL-130-Series is identified by the model code DBCL-130. The unit features a built-in temperature control circuit and complies with electromagnetic interference and electrical safety regulations. Electrical wiring colors are specified as Brown/Black for Live, Blue/White for Neutral, and Green/yellow/Green for Earth ground depending on region.

Operational warnings indicate that high temperatures can cause serious burns or ignite combustible material; operators should wear protective gloves. The unit must be earth grounded to ensure proper electrical safety. No liquids are permitted directly in the unit, and it should not be operated close to inflammable liquids or gases. Dismantling is restricted to properly trained personnel due to potentially lethal voltages exposed by removing front or rear panels.

Is there a uniformity specification?

Asked by: ronboom
Hi Ronboom Thank you for the inquiry. We do not have a uniformity spec on this product. The sensors should be inserted to the full depth of the well to achieve stated accuracy. All wells meet the stated accuracy spec. Best regards OMEGA
