Supported Applications
The Omega SA1-RTD Series consists of self-adhesive polyimide fast response RTD surface sensors designed for flexible surface temperature measurement. These thin-film platinum resistance detectors are engineered to mount directly onto clean, dry surfaces using a silicone adhesive backing with paper peel protection.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series utilizes 100 Ω at 0°C platinum film elements conforming to DIN Class 'B' accuracy. The standard measurement range is -73 to 260°C (-99 to 500°F) for continuous operation, with short-term capability up to 290°C (554°F) when installed using OMEGABOND® Air Set Cements.
Performance specifications include a resistance tolerance of ±0.12% at 0°C and fast thermal response times: less than 0.9 seconds for 63% response in water flowing at 3' per second, and less than 2 seconds on a hot plate. The sensor pad dimensions are 25 x 25 x 3 mm (1.00 x 1.00 x 0.122").
Configuration Options
The SA1-RTD-B series is configurable across wire lengths, connector types, and wiring configurations to suit specific installation needs.
- Wire Lengths: Standard options include 1 m (40"), 2 m (80"), and 3 m (120"). Custom lead wires longer than 120" are available by modifying the model suffix, with cost added per additional 12".
- Connectors: Models may be ordered with MTP connectors or a standard size 3-pin OTP connector. An audio-style TA3F connector is also an option for specific termination requirements.
- Wiring Configuration: The series features 3-wire construction as standard, color-coded per IEC-60751 and ASTM-E-1137. A 2-wire style is available by inserting '2W' after the 'B' in the part number.
- Packaging: Sensors are sold in convenient packages of three units.
The sensor construction includes a polyimide base layer with silicone adhesive, topped with fiberglass tape and polyimide tape for electrical isolation. Extension wires consist of #26 AWG stranded nickel-plated copper that is PFA insulated and jacketed.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the SA1-RTD-B series are distinguished by their wire length suffixes (e.g., -80 for 80", -120 for 120") and connector designators. The base model number SA1-RTD-B denotes a sensor with standard lead wires, while adding -MTP, -OTP, or -TA3F specifies the termination type.
The series offers specific ordering modifications for 2-wire configurations and extended lengths. For example, replacing 'MTP' with 'OTA' provides a standard size 3-pin connector at no additional cost, whereas selecting the TA3F audio connector incurs an additional charge per pack. The model number guide follows the format: SA1-RTD-B - [Wire Length] - [Connector Type].

RTD sensors kit
Used with RDXL65D - 6 channel Temperature Data Logger with Touch Screen.
RTD sensors are OK, but using with stereo(3-pole) 3.5 mm connectors (RDXL65D) is a bad idea.
Stereo connectors DO Not provide reliable low resistance contact, which shows as inconsistent measurement results.

Great temperature probes
Omega's RTDs have always been robust and well made. The self adhesive ones are nice for the testing I want to do.

Hi I purchased a pack, I received it alread, Packing Slip: 834570 Order: HC00491380, Orthosensor INC Can you please provide product DATA SHEET, and if available IFU intructions for use? mainly I need to know what each of the black, black, red wires are?
The only DATA SHEET that Omega can offer for the SA1-RTD-B series can be found by clicking Data Sheet (PDF) underneath the bullet points on the link included. We have no formal wiring diagrams but the way that RTD is wired is that both Black wires are attached to one side of the sensing element and the Red is attached to the other leg of the sensing element. Some standard terminology would be Red to SENSE (+) one of the Black to SENSE (-) and the last Black to Ground.
