Supported Applications
The Omega M12TXC series consists of compact, programmable RTD temperature transmitters designed for space-limited applications. These devices integrate a Pt100 sensor with an analog transmitter to provide direct process monitoring in industrial environments where footprint constraints are critical.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The M12TXC series operates within specific thermal and electrical envelopes defined by the sensor technology and electronic section. The measurement range is documented as -50 to 110°C (-58 to 248°F) for standard configurations, with a separate variant (M12TXSS) covering -50 to +120°C. The ambient temperature limit for the plastic body housing is -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F). Accuracy specifications include a transmitter maximum of ±0.2°C or ±0.2% of span, and a Pt100 sensor rated as Class A in accordance with IEC751 up to 300°C.
Response time performance is tested in water per IEC751 (time for reaching 63.2% of instantaneous temperature change). For the M12TXC-PT100 series, response times are <3.5 seconds for a diameter of 3 mm and <13 seconds for a diameter of 6 mm. The transmitter section itself has a response time (90%) of less than 50 ms.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable dimensions, process connections, and output parameters to accommodate specific installation requirements:
- Sensor Element: RTD Pt100 (Pt - 0.00385) with a 3-wire connection.
- Diameters & Lengths: Available in Ø3 mm and Ø6 mm diameters; insertion lengths include 13 mm, 24 mm, and other options depending on the specific model family (e.g., M12TX-PT100).
- Process Connections: Options include 1/8" NPT male thread or G1/8 thread.
- Housing & Wetted Materials: The body is constructed from stainless steel AISI 316L. Probe types vary between thermowell AISI 316L and compact mineral insulated AISI 316L depending on the model variant (M12TXC vs M12TX-PT100).
- Electrical Output: Provides a 4 to 20 mA analog signal. The permissible load is 700Ω @ 24 Vdc, calculated as R_load (Ω) = (U - 8.5) / 0.022.
- Power Supply: Operates on 8.5 to 32 Vdc with polarity protection.
- Degree of Protection: Rated IP65 and IP67 in accordance with IEC60529.
The series supports PC-based configuration via the M12TX-CONFIG-SET kit, which includes a USB interface and software for Windows 10.0 or higher. This allows users to set the input temperature range (span) between -50°C to 800°C, adjust zero values, and configure sensor break monitoring actions (upscale >21.0 mA or downscale <3.6 mA).
Key Product Differences
The M12TXC series is distinguished from the broader M12TX family by its compact form factor, specifically designed for tight spaces with an overall length of 50 mm (1.96") and a probe tip diameter as small as Ø3 mm (0.11"). While the general M12TX-PT100 series supports ranges up to +800°C using compact mineral insulated probes, the specific M12TXC variants listed are optimized for lower temperature applications (-50 to 110°C) with shorter insertion lengths.
Model variations primarily differ by process connection thread type (NPT vs. G-thread) and probe length (13 mm or 24 mm). The series includes an M12 male connector in accordance with VDE0627 for the output signal, whereas other family members like the M12TX-PT100 may feature separate input/output connectors.

Do I absolutly need the M12TX-CONFIG to configurate the transducer or the process temperature range declared in the description is already scaled for to 4-20 mA?
Thank you for the inquiry. The transmitter is scaled to the factory default setting. Ready to place in to service. M12TX-CONFIG is required only if changes to factory default setting is needed.
Best regards
