Supported Applications
The Omega Roller Thermocouple Handle Probes (Series 88000) are designed for measuring surface temperatures on rotating or moving metallic surfaces, smooth plastic piping, and steel piping. These unique probes feature swivel heads to adaptability across various applications involving dynamic motion.
Operating Conditions & Performance
All models in this series meet Standard Limits of Error. The maximum surface temperature rating is 205°C (400°F). Specific performance envelopes vary by model family:
- Models 88203(*) and 98203(*): Designed for rotating, smooth metallic surfaces with diameters of 229 to 610 mm (9 to 24"). Maximum surface velocity is 90 m (300') per minute.
- Models 88201(*) and 98201(*): Intended for moving or rotating smooth surfaces with a maximum velocity of 61 m (200') per minute. Maximum surface temperature is 205°C (400°F).
- Models 88202(*) and 98202(*): Ideal for measuring outside wall temperatures of smooth plastic or steel piping. Suitable for moving or rotating surfaces with diameters of 559 to 1524 mm (22 to 60"). Maximum surface velocity is 90 m (300') per minute.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable thermocouple types and mechanical configurations. All probes are supplied with a molded SMP or SMPW subminiature male connector; TAS adaptors are sold separately.
- Thermocouple Types: Available in Type K (CHROMEGA™-ALOMEGA™) or Type E (CHROMEGA™-Constantan).
- Mechanical Options: Models include standard versions and swivel head variants (e.g., 98201, 98202, 98203 series with Swivel Head).
- Accessories: TAS-K-3 Adaptor and TAS-E-3 Adaptor are available separately.
- Maintenance: Replacement elements must be ordered separately (e.g., Model No. 88201(*)-RE, 88202(*)-RE, or 88203(*)-RE).
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between three primary model families based on surface diameter and velocity requirements:
- Model No. 88201(*) / 98201(*): Roller-surface probes for smooth surfaces with a maximum velocity of 61 m (200') per minute.
- Model No. 88202(*) / 98202(*): Optimized for larger diameters ranging from 559 to 1524 mm (22 to 60") and smooth plastic or steel piping applications, supporting velocities up to 90 m (300') per minute.
- Model No. 88203(*) / 98203(*): Configured for rotating metallic surfaces with diameters between 229 and 610 mm (9 to 24") at velocities up to 90 m (300') per minute.

Good Probe
Used it to measure the temperature of plates in a laminator at speeds up to 175 ft/min and temperatures from 115-175F. Worked very well. Temperatures were very repeatable. Made a difficult task much easier and produced data I have more confidence in.

accurate and quick
This thermocouple was exactly what I needed to accurately measure the surface temperature of a hot rotation stainless steel drum. I had tried IR imaging with special tapes to increase emissivity of the surface and found the values to be in a much wider range than what I was expecting for this type of metal. I am much happier with the data. Thanks for the great product!

Worth every penny
I work in the laundry industry, at times one of the pieces of machinery that I work with is a chicago iron. Until I found this little beauty there was no way to accurately measure the heat of a 36" diameter x 16 foot spinning heated drum. The device is perfect for the application, my only wish is that it came in a better storage case becides that cardboard box it was shipped in.

Great Product and Fast Delivery
When ordering the product was to arrive a week after it actually arrived.

I have a 98202K which worked great but quit working with no visible break in the sensor strip. It is nice that a spare strip is supplied with instructions for replacing the strip and some sort of troubleshooting guide or manual would be helpful.
Thank you for your inquiry. Make sure to handle this product with care.
