Supported Applications
The Series DFMT2 Remote Digital Paddlewheel Flow Transmitter is a two-piece digital flow transmitter designed for instantaneous and totalizing flow monitoring of compatible clean liquids. The series utilizes high accuracy, industry-proven paddlewheel technology with a corrosion-resistant PVDF sensor to support long operation life in industrial environments.
Documented applications include reverse osmosis water purifying systems and installations where space is limited or separation between the control panel and the process application is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series DFMT2 operates within a process temperature range of -4 to 194°F (-20 to 90°C) and an ambient temperature range of -4 to 149°F (-20 to 65°C). The transmitter is rated for pressures up to 145 psi (1.0 MPa).
Performance specifications include:
- Accuracy: ±1.5% FS
- Repeatability: ±0.5% FS
- Resolution: Up to 3 decimal points for both flow and totalization units
- Totalizing Display Maximum: 9,999,999,999
The unit requires a power supply of 12 to 24 VDC with a maximum loop resistance of 750 Ω for the analog output. The enclosure is rated IP65 and constructed from ABS plastic.
Measurement Ranges by Model
- DFMT2-10A: 0.44 to 7.93 GPM (0.1 to 1.8 m³/h)
- DFMT2-15A: 0.88 to 17.61 GPM (0.2 to 4 m³/h)
- DFMT2-20A: 1.32 to 26.42 GPM (0.3 to 6 m³/h)
- DFMT2-25A: 2.20 to 52.83 GPM (0.5 to 12 m³/h)
- DFMT2-40A: 6.61 to 105.67 GPM (1.5 to 24 m³/h)
- DFMT2-50A: 8.81 to 176.11 GPM (2 to 40 m³/h)
Configuration Options
The Series DFMT2 features a two-piece design that separates the sensor from the display and electronics, connected by a cable length of 197" [5 m]. The remote mounting bracket is constructed of stainless steel with overall dimensions of 3-7/8" [100] x 4-1/2" [114.30] x 1-13/32" [35.72].
Wetted Materials and Construction
- Sensor and Impeller: PVDF
- Shaft: Ceramic
- O-Rings: Fluoroelastomer
Output Signals and Electrical Connections
The transmitter offers user-selectable output configurations via removable screw terminals. Available outputs include:
- Analog: 4 to 20 mA (750 Ω max. loop resistance)
- Pulse: NPN square wave output with adjustable frequency from 0 to 2 kHz and pulse width from 0 to 1000 ms
Electrical connection terminals support RS485 communication (RS DATA+, RS DATA-), input power (12 to 24 V+/-), sensor power (VO+), and sensor communication (SIN+/SIN-).
Process Connections
The series supports the following NPT process connections corresponding to specific model ranges:
- DFMT2-10A: 3/8" NPT

Key Product Differences
The Series DFMT2 is distinguished within the broader paddlewheel family by its remote two-piece architecture, whereas the related Series DFMT features an integrated compact display. Both series share identical measurement ranges, wetted materials (PVDF sensor/impeller, ceramic shaft, fluoroelastomer O-rings), accuracy specifications (±1.5% FS), and output capabilities.
Key physical distinctions for the Series DFMT2 include:
- Housing Dimensions: 4-1/2" [114.30] x 4-9/16" [115.89] (remote mounting bracket)
- Cable Length: Fixed at 197" [5 m]
- Mounting Bracket Material: Stainless steel
- Weight Range: Varies by model from 1.76 lb (0.8 kg) for the DFMT2-10A to 2.43 lb (1.1 kg) for the DFMT2-50A.
The Series DFMT2 is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned as a complete assembly.
