Supported Applications
The Rotronic HygroClip2 Advanced Industrial (HC2A) series comprises digital humidity and temperature probes designed for industrial environments. Based on AirChip3000 technology, these probes are engineered for production environments, industrial manufacturing processes, drying applications, and climate chambers. The HC2A-IC/IM/IE models support high-temperature measurement up to 200 °C.

Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates across a humidity range of 0...100 %RH. Temperature measurement capabilities vary by model and configuration:
- Electronics operating temperature: -50...+100 °C
- Sensor head operating temperature: -100...200 °C (with a maximum continuous load of 190 °C and peak load limit of 100 h max.)
- Accuracy @ 23°C: ±0.8 %RH, ±0.1 K for standard configurations; variants with HYGROMER® HT-1 sensors offer accuracies down to ±0.5 %RH.
- Response time (τ63): <15 s without filter (temperature and humidity)
- Long-term stability: < 1 %RH / year
The probes feature an IP65 protection rating, excluding the sensor area. Power supply requirements are 3.3...5 VDC with a current consumption of approximately 5 mA (adjusted at 3.3 VDC). The analog outputs require a load resistance ≥10 kΩ.

The HC2A series is available in multiple configurations to address specific installation and environmental needs, including cable probes, steel industrial probes, and screw-in process connections.
Housing and Process Connections
- Cable Probes (HC2A-IC Series): Polycarbonate housing with Ø 15 mm probe diameter; available in black or white. Probe lengths include 100 mm, 250 mm, 384 mm, and 684 mm options.
- Steel Industrial Cable Probes (HC2A-IM Series): Stainless steel sheath with Ø 15 mm diameter; probe lengths of 86 mm and 236 mm are offered.
- Screw-in Probes (HC2A-IE Series): Designed for direct process insertion with 1/2" G or 1/2" NPT threads. These models support pressures up to 100 bar / 1450 PSI and feature a stainless steel 1.4301 sheath.
- Housing Materials: PPS, Polycarbonate (black/white), Stainless Steel 1.4301
Sensors and Outputs
- Sensor Elements: HYGROMER® HT-1 for humidity; PT100 1/3 class B for temperature.
- Analog Signals: Two linear outputs (2x 0...1 VDC). Factory scaling defaults to Humidity (0...100 %RH = 0...1 V) and Temperature (-40...60 °C = 0...1 V), configurable via HW4 software.
- Digital Communication: UART serial interface at 19200 baud fixed. Protocols include RoAscii (default) and MODBUS (configurable).
Filtration Options
A variety of filter carriers and elements are available to protect the sensor, with application ranges covering -50...100°C or -100...200 °C depending on material:
- Filter Materials: Polyethylene (40-50 µm), PTFE/Teflon (10 µm), Wire mesh 1.4401 (10 or 25 µm), Sintered steel 1.4404.
- Filter Carriers: Polycarbonate black/white, Stainless Steel 1.4301, or no carrier for standalone filters.

- HC2A-IM Series (Steel Industrial Cable Probe): Utilizes a stainless steel sheath for enhanced durability in harsh environments. Models include HC2A-IM102-M and HC2A-IM305-M.
- HC2A-IE Series (Screw-in Probe): Designed for threaded installation into process lines, offering 1/2" G or 1/2" NPT connections. These variants are rated for higher pressures up to 100 bar / 1450 PSI.
- Sensor Variants: While the primary sensor is HYGROMER® HT-1, specific configurations may utilize HYGROMER® HH-1 sensors with a reduced humidity range of 0...90 %RH and temperature limits of 0...60 °C (32...140 °F), offering an accuracy of ±1.0 %RH.
