Supported Applications
The Omega DPF143 and DPF144 flow computers are microcontroller-based indicator/transmitters designed to interface with pulse output flow sensors. They compute and display flow rate and total, while generating output signals representing these values for external devices such as metering pumps and water treatment controls.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0° to 55° C (-32° to 131° F) with a non-operating (storage) range of -40° to 75° C (-40° to 158° F). The rugged plastic housing provides NEMA 4X and IP67 environmental ratings. Input acceptance is specified as 5V pulse or contact closure within an input frequency range of 0.752 to 2000 Hz.
Display resolution includes a 5-digit auto-ranging rate display and an 8-digit total display. The Set P (units per pulse) configuration supports a range from 0.1 to 99999.9 units/pulse, with K-Factor settings available from .001 to 999999.999.
Configuration Options
The DPF140 Series offers configurable mounting and power options tailored for wall or panel installations:
- Housing & Mounting: Available in Wall mount (W) and Panel/Pipe mount (P) configurations. Conversion kits allow changing from wall to meter mount (DPF140-MK10, DPF140-MK15) or meter to wall mount (FTB700D-WMB, DPF140-MK25).
- Power Supply: The DPF143 is DC powered requiring 7-30Vdc. The DPF144 is a two-wire loop-powered device operating on the 4 to 20 mA circuit, with an optional internal AC power supply (DPS) providing dual 24 and 12VDC outputs.
- Outputs: Pulse Output 1 provides scaled pulse or high/low alarm signals. The DPF143 includes a second output for pulse pass-through; the DPF144 features two configurable scaled/alarm outputs plus a loop power output (4-20mA).
- Security & Protection: Options include tamper-evident kits with wire seals (TE), non-resettable total functions (NR), and hinged display covers (HC). Password protection prevents unauthorized resetting or configuration changes.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between the DPF143 and DPF144 models based on power architecture and output flexibility:
- DPF143 Series (DC Powered): Features one scaled pulse/alarm output (opto-isolated) and a second current sinking pass-through output. The pass-through supports frequencies up to 2000 Hz but cannot be configured as an alarm.
- DPF144 Series (Loop Powered): Designed for applications requiring a 4-20 mA analog signal. It provides two scaled pulse/alarm outputs and loop power output, eliminating the pass-through function found on the DPF143.
