Supported Applications

The PUR-TX-3W is a Pura Transmitter configured for a 3-wire 4-20mA connection, built for the measurement of trace moisture in ultra-high purity gases. It reports dew-point moisture content and is suited to demanding industrial gas streams where very low water content must be tracked continuously.

Compatible media documented for the Pura range include Ultra-high purity gases and UHP inert gas, as well as Natural Gas, LPG, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Air, Inert Gases and Hydrocarbons. The analog output can be scaled across a dew point of -120...-40 °C or, for moisture content in gas, across 0...127 ppmₕ, making the transmitter appropriate for both dew-point and concentration-based monitoring tasks.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitter measures across a dew-point range of -120 to -40°C. Accuracy is specified in tiers: ±1 °C from -40 to -60 °Cdp, ±2 °C from -60 to -100 °Cdp, and ±4 °C from -100 to -120 °Cdp (extrapolated). Repeatability is ±0.5% of reading, resolution is 0.1 ppmv, and the response time is T90 < 10 seconds. Each unit ships with a traceable 7-point calibration certificate.

In its 3-wire form the device delivers a 4...20 mA output (3-wire connection, current sink). Supply voltage is 12...28 V DC, load resistance is Max 250 Ω @ 14 V (500 Ω @ 24 V), and current consumption is up to 23 mA max. Electrical termination uses a MiniDIN 43650 form C or M12 5-pin (A coded) connector.

Operating temperature is -40...+60 °C, with an ambient range of -20...+50 °C and storage at -40...+60 °C. Maximum process pressure is 24 MPa. The enclosure carries an IP66 rating in accordance with BS EN 60529:1992 and NEMA 4 protection in accordance with NEMA 250-2003. Wetted parts are 316 stainless steel, and process connections are offered as 1/2" male VCR and 1/4" male VCR.

Configuration Options

Both models in this series share the 3-wire 4-20mA architecture (parent code PUR-TX-3W) and the same -120 to -40°C dew-point range (range code A), but they differ in mechanical build and packaging.

  • PUR-TX-3W-BA is the OEM (Single Bagged) build. As an OEM version it includes the sample block and has a documented weight of 450 g.
  • PUR-TX-3W-CA is the SEN (Sensor only, no block) build. Without the sample block it is the lighter option at 180 g, intended for integration into an existing block or system.

The sensor-only configuration trades the integral sample block for a lower mass and simpler footprint, while the OEM build is supplied ready-mounted. Recalibration is handled through matching service codes — PUR-TX-OEM-Recal for the OEM build and PUR-TX-SEN-Recal for the sensor-only build — each providing 13 points between -100 and +20°C dp with a certificate traceable to national standards.

Key Product Differences

The PUR-TX-3W lineup consists of two orderable models, both derived from the Pura Transmitter 3-wire 4-20 mA base (PUR-TX-3W):

  • PUR-TX-3W-BA — OEM (Single Bagged) version, -120 to -40°C dp range.
  • PUR-TX-3W-CA — SEN (Sensor only, no block) version, -120 to -40°C dp range. The documented ordering example describes this as "Pura Transmitter 4-20mA 3 wire, Sensor only, no block, range -120 to -40°C".

Supporting accessories documented for the range include M12 sensor cables (for example EA2-M12-CAB-02 and EA2-M12-CAB-05), MiniDIN cable assemblies, and a Service Exchange path under parent code PUR-TX-X for cost-managed sensor replacement.
