Supported Applications
The Omega THS series comprises Sanitary Thermistor Assemblies with Protection Heads, designed for use in Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and sanitary processes. These sensors feature thermistor elements that provide a non-linear resistance temperature output with greater resolution than RTD sensors.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates across a process temperature range of -80 to 150°C (-112 to 302°F). Interchangeability is specified as ±0.2°C between 0 and 70°C for the standard 10,000 Ω element configuration. Wetted surfaces are constructed from 316L Stainless Steel with a surface finish of 32 µin or better to maintain sanitary integrity.
Electrical operation requires excitation current no greater than 12 microamps; exceeding this limit may result in self-heating errors. The sensors utilize 2-wire connections, and thermistor elements have no polarity.

Configuration Options
The THS series is available in two primary configurations: Heavy-Duty (THS-H-NB9W) and Standard Duty (THS-S-NB9W). Both include a 1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™ (Tri-Clamp® compatible) fitting standard, with mounting flanges connecting to similar process connections using commercially available gaskets and clamps. The protection head is white polypropylene.
Configurable Options
- Sensor Elements: Standard 10K (44006 series, 10,000 Ω @ 25°C); options include 2K (2252 Ω), 3K (3000 Ω), 5K (5000 Ω), and 30K (30,000 Ω) elements.
- Probe Lengths: Standard lengths range from 3" to 6". Longer lengths are available for additional cost by modifying the model number length code (e.g., 12" = 1200).
- Housing Options: The standard NB9W head can be replaced with an NB15 large 316 SS head.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between Heavy-Duty and Standard Duty designs based on probe stem construction. The THS-H-NB9W (Heavy-Duty) features a stepped probe stem for additional strength, while the THS-S-NB9W (Standard Duty) maintains a consistent ¼" diameter.
Model numbers follow the format THS----D1-NB9W. The sensor code identifies resistance at 25°C, and the series letter indicates duty type (H for Heavy-Duty, S for Standard Duty). Probe lengths are encoded numerically in inches multiplied by 100.
