Supported Applications

The Omega DPS3300 Series consists of wall-mount multi-channel process scanners designed to monitor signals from multiple transducers with a single device. These instruments automatically scan through channels, displaying the channel number and process value for applications requiring simultaneous monitoring of temperature, pressure, strain, or other variables converted to voltage or current.

Supported input types include thermocouples (J, K, T, E, R, S, B), RTDs (Pt100, 385, 392), thermistors (400 Series), millivolt signals (0 to 100 mV), voltage (0 to 10 Vdc), and current loops (4 to 20 mA). The display presents process values in engineering units such as temperature (°C or °F) or pressure (PSI).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DPS3300 Series features a fixed scan rate of 2 channels per second with programmable channel intervals from 1 to 999 seconds. Accuracy varies by input type, as documented in the specification tables:

• Thermocouples (J, K, T, E): ±1°C ±1 cnt (±2°F ±1 cnt)
• Thermocouples (R, S, B): ±3°C ±1 cnt (±6°F ±1 cnt)
• RTDs: ±1°C ±1 cnt (±2°F ±1 cnt) for RTD-385 and RTD-392
• Thermistors: ±0.5°C ±1 cnt (±1°F ±1 cnt)
• Voltage, Current, Millivolt: 0.05% ±1 cnt

The unit utilizes a 20,000 count A/D converter with dual-slope integrating conversion at approximately 7 conversions per second (typical). Resolution is selectable as 1°C or °F for temperature inputs and supports process formats of 9999, 999.9, 99.99, or 9.999 counts.

Enclosure specifications include a polystyrene case with a crystal-clear polycarbonate lid rated up to IP65 (DIN standard). The unit weighs 1.4 kg (3 lb) and measures 192 W x 160 H x 103 mm D (7.55 x 6.29 x 4.05").

Configuration Options

The series is available in two channel configurations: 4-channel and 7-channel models, each offered with either fixed or programmable inputs.

• DPS3304 / DPS3314: 4-zone scanners (channels 1 through 4).
• DPS3307 / DPS3317: 7-zone scanners (channels 1 through 7).

Input Configuration Options:

• Dedicated Input Models (DPS3304, DPS3307): Accept only one type of transducer signal on all inputs. Available input codes include TC (J, K, T, E), R, S, B thermocouples; RTD; TH (Thermistor); MV (0 to 100 mV); V (0 to 10 Vdc); and C (4 to 20 mA).
• Programmable Input Models (DPS3314, DPS3317): Allow each channel to be configured independently. Supported signals include low voltage inputs (T/C, RTD, Thermistor, milliVolt), voltage signals (0-5Vdc, 0-10Vdc), and loop current signals (4-20mA, 0-50mA).

Power Supply Options:

• Standard: 120 Vac—60 Hz.
• Optional Suffix -1: 240 Vac (or 220 Vac—50/60 Hz).
• Optional Suffix -2: 8 to 15 Vdc @ 900 mA.

Output Options:

• No Output (Standard): Blank suffix.
• Relay Outputs: Single pole single throw, 1 A @ 28 Vdc or 0.5 A @ 120 Vac resistive. Suffixes include -3 (7 relays for 7-channel units) and -5 (4 relays for 4-channel units).
• Open Collector Outputs: 50 mA maximum sink, limited to 50 mA per output with an internal 5 V source. Suffixes include -4 (7 outputs for 7-channel units) and -6 (4 outputs for 4-channel units).

Additional Features:

• Selectable temperature units: Celsius or Fahrenheit.
• Display modes: Elapsed time, scan mode, high/low channel mode, deviation mode, and difference mode.
• Functions include min/max readings, rate of change, timer functions (HH.MM.SS), and a built-in buzzer (optional).
• Cold-junction compensation error is ±1°C max [10 to 40°C (50 to 104°F)].
• Open thermocouple indication displays "HELP".

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction within the DPS3300 Series lies in channel count and input flexibility. The base models (DPS3304, DPS3307) are dedicated-input scanners where all channels must accept the same signal type defined by the ordering code. In contrast, the enhanced models (DPS3314, DPS3317) feature fully programmable inputs, allowing mixed-signal configurations across different channels within a single unit.

Output capabilities are tied to channel count; 4-channel units support up to 4 relay or open-collector outputs, while 7-channel units support up to 7. Power options vary by suffix: the standard configuration is 120 Vac—60 Hz, with optional configurations for 240 Vac (or 220 Vac) and low-voltage DC operation.

Accessories include universal mechanical relay modules such as RELAY-URM-400 (4-relay module) and RELAY-URM-800 (8-relay module), rated at 15 A. Custom inputs are available upon consultation with engineering.
