Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series IP Current to Pressure Transducer converts a current input signal into a linearly proportional pneumatic output pressure. Designed for control applications requiring high reliability and repeatability, the series is used to operate valve actuators, pneumatic valve positioners, damper and louver actuators, final control elements, and relays.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series IP operates on a force balance principle using a coil suspended in a magnetic field. It features an integral booster relay to generate back pressure acting as pilot pressure. The device is housed in a rugged NEMA 4X enclosure, allowing for splashdown and outdoor installation.
- Input Signal: 4-20 mA (Loop-powered)
- Ambient Temperature Range: -20 to 140°F (-30 to 60°C)
- Supply Pressure Limits: Minimum of 3 psig (21 kPa) above maximum output; Maximum supply pressure is 100 psig (700 kPa).
- Air Quality Requirement: Oil-free, clean dry air filtered to 40 microns.
Performance specifications include linearity of < ±0.75% of span, hysteresis of < 1% of span, and repeatability of < 0.5% of span. Supply pressure sensitivity is rated at < ±0.1% of span per psig (< ±0.15% of span per 10 kPa). Typical air consumption is 0.03 SCFM (0.5 m³/h), with an output capacity of 4.5 SCFM (7.6 m³/hr ANR) at a 25 psig supply and 12 SCFM (20 m³/h) at a 100 psig supply.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable output ranges to match specific actuator requirements. Models are available with field-reversible operation, providing an output inversely proportional to the input signal for reverse-acting mode configurations. Flexible zero and span adjustments allow for calibration in the field.
- Process Connection: 1/4" female NPT (Pneumatic)
- Electrical Connection: 1/2" female NPT conduit fitting
- Connector Type: DIN 43650 Connector (Terminals: Positive, Negative, Not Used, Ground)
- Approvals and Certifications: CE Marked; FM Approved as Intrinsically Safe for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D; suitable for Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G; and Class III, Divisions 1 and 2.
The series supports multiple output pressure ranges depending on the model selected:
- IP-40: 3-9 psig (Nominal Impedance: 90 Ohms)
- IP-41: 9-15 psig (Nominal Impedance: 90 Ohms)
- IP-42: 3-15 psig (Input Impedance: 180 Ω)
- IP-43: 3-27 psig (Input Impedance: 220 Ω)
- IP-44: 6-30 psig (Input Impedance: 220 Ω)
- IP-45: 1-17 psig (Nominal Impedance: 250 Ohms)
- IP-46: 2-60 psig (Nominal Impedance: 225 Ohms)
- IP-47: 3-120 psig (Nominal Impedance: 260 Ohms)
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Series IP are distinguished by their specific pneumatic output ranges and corresponding input impedance values. The documented models range from low-pressure outputs such as 3-9 psig to high-pressure configurations up to 3-120 psig.
- IP-42: Configured for a 3 to 15 psi (20 to 100 kPa) output range with an input impedance of 180 Ω.
- IP-43 and IP-44: Share an input impedance of 220 Ω but differ in output ranges; IP-43 provides 3 to 27 psi (20 to 185 kPa), while IP-44 provides 6 to 30 psi (40 to 200 kPa).
Physical dimensions for the enclosure are approximately 4.24 in (107.7 mm) height, 2.88 in (73.1 mm) width, and 2.18 in (55.4 mm) depth per manual data, with a weight of 2.1 lb (0.94 kg). For reverse-acting mode operation, the positive side of the input signal must be connected to the white lead.
