Supported Applications

The Omega PRG101 and PRG501 Series Pressure Regulators are precision instruments designed for high-performance pressure regulation of dry gases. These regulators feature a piston control and high-gain pneumatic 2-stage servo system, making them suitable for 'dead end' applications where precise pressure maintenance is required. The series supports both panel mounting (PRG501) and pipe or bracket mounting configurations.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PRG Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 70°C (0 to 160°F). The units are unaffected by vibration and mounting position. Key performance specifications include:

  • Regulation Accuracy: Varies by model; 0.1% for PRG101-25, PRG501-X15, and PRG501-30; 0.05% for PRG101-60 and PRG501-60; and 0.02% for PRG101-120 and PRG501-120 (measured at a 15 psi supply pressure change at midrange).
  • Hysteresis and Repeatability: 0.05% of setting.
  • Sensitivity/Resolution: 0.005 psi.
  • Response Time: 0.2 seconds to a 50% load change.
  • Maximum Supply (Input) Pressure: 150 psi (1000 kPa).
  • Minimum Regulated Pressure: 2 psi.
  • Flow Capacity: Maximum of 10 SCFM.

The media compatibility is restricted to dry gases only, which must be oil-free and filtered to better than 25 microns. The minimum supply pressure required is 3 psi above the desired output pressure.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable regulation ranges across two primary model families: PRG101 (standard hand-wheel adjustment) and PRG501 (includes a 4" diameter dial gauge). Available adjustable regulation ranges include:

  • PRG101 Models: 2 to 25 psig, 2 to 60 psig, and 2 to 120 psig.
  • PRG501 Models: 3 to 15 psig (X15), 2 to 30 psig, 2 to 60 psig, and 2 to 120 psig.

The PRG101 features two ¼ FNPT gauge ports for local indication via external Omega pressure gauges. The PRG501 includes an integrated dual-scale dial gauge (psi and bar) with a phosphor bronze Bourdon tube, designed to be mounted outside the panel when installed in-panel.

Wetted materials include nitrile-reinforced elastomers for the diaphragm and beryllium-copper for the capsule. The housing is constructed of IP65 sealed zinc diecasting with an epoxy paint finish. An optional mounting bracket (PRG101-BKT) is available for PRG101 units; this bracket is included with all PRG501 models.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the two series lies in their indication and mounting features. The PRG101 Series provides standard hand-wheel adjustment (requiring 2½ turns for full control range) with integral gauge ports but no built-in display, weighing 0.75 kg (1.60 lb). Dimensions are 54 mm x 54 mm x 68 mm.

The PRG501 Series incorporates a dual-scale dial gauge for local reading and is optimized for panel mounting with the gauge extending outside the enclosure. The PRG501 weighs 1.15 kg (2.50 lb) and has dimensions of 117 mm diameter by 108 mm height.

Both series share identical regulation accuracy, hysteresis, repeatability, response time, and environmental ratings for equivalent pressure ranges. The PRG501 models are noted as available "while supplies last." All units carry a CE mark and include a one-year warranty.
