Supported Applications

The Omega HHF144 Series is a precision handheld rotating metal vane hygro-thermo anemometer designed to measure air velocity, temperature, and relative humidity. The series supports applications in HVAC systems, aerospace development, industrial process airflow monitoring, fluids research, manufacturing facilities, laboratories, computer rooms, environmental control setups, and flow hood monitoring.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HHF144 Series operates across distinct measurement ranges depending on the probe configuration. The 70 mm (2¾") diameter probe (HHF144B) measures air velocity from 0.2 to 40.00 m/s (40 to 7800 FPM), while the 25 mm (1") diameter probe (HHF144A) covers 1.5 to 35.00 m/s (300 to 6800 FPM). Relative humidity is measured from 5.0 to 95% RH with a resolution of 0.1% RH.

Temperature measurement capabilities vary by sensor type: the integrated air probe supports -20 to 100°C (-4 to 212°F), and the temperature/humidity probe covers -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F). When using an optional separate temperature probe, the range extends from -95 to 200°C (-139 to 392°F).

Accuracy specifications are defined as follows:

• Air Velocity: ±1.0% of reading ±1-digit
• Temperature: ±(0.3°C + 0.2% of reading in °C)
• Relative Humidity: ±2.0% RH

The instrument operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 125°F). Response times are approximately 60 seconds for temperature in still air and 10 seconds in moving air streams; relative humidity reaches up to 90% of the measured value change in 15 seconds.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable by probe diameter, output signal type, and protective accessories. The primary variants include:

• Probe Sizes: HHF144A with a 25 mm (1") dia. probe; HHF144B with a 70 mm (2¾") dia. probe.
• Output Options: Standard units provide digital display readings. Optional configurations include analog voltage output (suffix "-V"), USB communications (suffix "-USB"), and RS-232 or 4–20 mA modules referenced in supporting documentation.
• Protective Accessories: A protective boot is available by adding the suffix "-PB" to the model number. Extension rods (flexible, straight, and with handle) are offered as accessories.

The instrument is powered by 3 AA alkaline batteries (included). Replacement parts include specific vane probes for both diameters, a replacement temperature/humidity probe, and battery packs.

Differences within the HHF144 Series are primarily defined by the physical dimensions of the rotating vane probe and the inclusion of optional output interfaces. The HHF144A model utilizes a 25 mm (1") diameter probe optimized for higher velocity ranges starting at 300 FPM, whereas the HHF144B employs a larger 70 mm (2¾") diameter probe capable of measuring lower velocities down to 40 FPM. Models with suffixes such as "-V" or "-USB" denote specific hardware additions for analog voltage transmission or digital data logging via USB, respectively.
