Supported Applications

The Omega FTB-30 Series Positive Displacement Flow Meters/Totalizers are designed for the accurate measurement of heating oil (#2, 4, 6) flow. The series serves two primary application tiers: models FTB-30 and FTB-31A are intended for light heating oil in small burners, while models FTB-32 through FTB-36 address large flow applications suitable for all types of oil (grades 2–6), including heavy preheated grades.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series provides volumetric flow measurement with accuracy rated at ±1% of reading for models FTB-30 and FTB-32 through FTB-36, while the FTB-31A achieves an accuracy of ±1/2% of reading. Process temperature limits vary by model: 60 °F (140 °F) applies to FTB-30 and FTB-31A; models FTB-32 through FTB-36 support up to 127 °F (260 °F). Pressure ratings are specified as 350 psi for FTB-30 and FTB-31A, 225 psi for FTB-32 through FTB-34, and 150 psi for FTB-35 and FTB-36.

Flow ranges span from a minimum of 0.25 gal/h (FTB-30) to a maximum of 8000 gal/h (FTB-36). Specific continuous flow capabilities include:

  • FTB-30: 14.0 gal/h
  • FTB-31A: 35.0 gal/h
  • FTB-32: 265 gal/h
  • FTB-33: 105 gal/h
  • FTB-34: 528 gal/h
  • FTB-35: 1600 gal/h
  • FTB-36: 5300 gal/h

All FTB totalizers feature non-resettable counters that restart at zero after reaching maximum counting capacity. Maximum readings range from 100,000 gallons (FTB-30) to 10,000,000 gallons (FTB-35 and FTB-36).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable process connections and output options tailored to specific flow rates. Process connections include compression fittings for smaller models and threaded or flanged couplings for larger units:

  • FTB-30: 1/4" CF (Compression Fitting)
  • FTB-31A: 3/8" CF
  • FTB-32 to FTB-35: NPT couplings ranging from 1/2" mnpt to 1-1/2" mnpt (specifically: 3/4", 1/2", 1", and 1-1/2")
  • FTB-36: 2" Flg (Flange)

An optional Reed Relay Scaled Pulse Output is available for remote totalization on models designated with the "P" suffix. The pulse output increments are scaled to flow volume: 0.1 gal/pulse for FTB-30P through FTB-33P; 1.0 gal/pulse for FTB-34P; and 10.0 gal/pulse for FTB-35P and FTB-36P.

Installation requires an oil filter or strainer upstream of the flowmeter to protect against sediments. Required mesh widths vary by model, ranging from 0.002" (0.05mm) for FTB-30/FTB-31A up to 0.012" (0.30mm) for FTB-35 and FTB-36.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between small-burner applications (FTB-30, FTB-31A) and large-flow/heavy-oil applications (FTB-32 to FTB-36). Models FTB-32 through FTB-36 feature fully rotatable, easy-to-read faces. Resolution varies by model: 0.01 gallons for FTB-30; 0.1 gallons for FTB-31A, FTB-32, and FTB-33; 1.0 gallon for FTB-34; and 10.0 gallons for FTB-35 and FTB-36.

Physical dimensions differ significantly across the series to accommodate flow capacity. For example, the overall height (dimension B) ranges from 79 mm for FTB-30/FTB-31A up to 17" for FTB-35 and 13-3/4" for FTB-36. Weights range from 1.1 Lbs. for the smallest models (FTB-30, FTB-31A) to 88 Lbs. for the largest model (FTB-36).

Do you have the Positive Displacement Totalizers For Oil Flow in Liters?

Asked by: Alex1
Thank you for your inquiry and there is another series, FPDM3000, positive displacement totalizer and will have the option to display in Liters.
