Supported Applications

The Omega HHT30 series consists of portable digital stroboscopes designed for measuring rotational speed (RPM) and analyzing motion through stop-motion diagnostic inspection. The instruments support multiple operating modes including Internal Strobe, TACH Frequency Generator, External Input, and Tachometer Mode to facilitate visual inspection tasks such as checking misalignment or bent odd-numbered fan blades and propellers.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series provides reliable speed measurements with crystal-controlled circuitry that eliminates drift. Flash range capabilities span 30 to 14,000 fpm (flashes per minute) or 0.5 to 233.33 fps (frames per second). In Tachometer mode, the unit measures speeds from 5 to 200,000 rpm directly without flashing the strobe.

Performance specifications include a flash accuracy of ±0.01% rdg or ±0.5 fpm and tach accuracy of ±0.01% rdg or ±0.2 rpm. Resolution is specified as 0.1 fpm for flash settings, while tach resolution offers 0.1 rpm up to 99,999.9 rpm and 1 rpm from 100,000 to 200,000 rpm.

Operating conditions are defined as an ambient temperature range of 5 to 40°C (41 to 104°F). Operating humidity is limited to a maximum RH of 80% for temperatures up to 31°C (88°F), decreasing linearly to 50% RH at 40°C (104°F).

Configuration Options

The HHT30 series is available in two primary power configurations: the AC mains-powered HHT31 models and the battery-operated HHT32 models. The HHT31 operates on 115 or 230 Vac, 50 to 400 Hz with an average power consumption of 15 W. The HHT32 utilizes internal rechargeable batteries (6 Vdc @ 2.5 A max) and includes a microprocessor-controlled charging circuit; battery life exceeds 60 minutes at 6000 fpm.

Key configurable features and options include:

• Housing & Mounting: Units feature a body dimension of 90.4 H x 93.0 W x 229 mm L (3.56 x 3.66 x 9") with a handle length of 108 mm (4.25"). A tripod mount is provided as ¼-20 UNC.
• Display & Controls: All models include a 6-digit backlit alphanumeric LCD display measuring 12.7 mm (0.5") with rotary encoder frequency setting, 'Divide by 2'/'Multiply by 2', and phase adjustment buttons ('Phase +' / 'Phase -').
• I/O Connectivity: External trigger input and synchronization output are available via a ¼" phone plug, TTL compatible. Trigger to flash delay is typically 5 μs.
• Accessories & Kits: Options include rugged carrying cases, spare lamps, 3-hour rechargers (for HHT32), remote sensors for tachometer mode (HHT20-ROS), and a splashproof protective cover specifically for HHT32 models.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between AC-powered and battery-operated units, with specific model codes reflecting power supply and accessory inclusion. The HHT31R is the base 115 Vac powered stroboscope, while the HHT31R-230 supports 230 Vac input. 'KIT' variants (e.g., HHT31R-KIT) include a rugged carrying case and spare lamp.

The HHT32R is the battery-powered version supplied with an internal rechargeable battery and AC charger; the HHT32R-KIT adds the 3-hour recharger, case, and spare lamp. The splashproof protective cover (HHT32-SPC) is available exclusively for HHT32 models.
