Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series CHP Pneumatic Hand Pump is designed for calibrating pressure or vacuum gauges, switches, and transmitters. The series provides a dependable method to generate stable pneumatic pressures up to 100 psi or vacuums down to -28.8" Hg.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series CHP operates within specific pressure limits defined by its model configuration:

  • CHP-P (Pressure): 0 to 100 psi output range.
  • CHP-V (Vacuum): 0 to -28.8" Hg output range.

The pump design pressure limit is 150 psig, and the process temperature must not exceed 150°F. The unit displaces approximately 4 in³ of volume per stroke. Construction utilizes Acetal plastic and anodized aluminum to prevent body heat transfer from affecting readings.

Configuration Options

The series is available as two distinct models based on the required measurement type:

  • CHP-P: Pressure calibration pump configured for positive pressure generation.
  • CHP-V: Vacuum calibration pump configured for negative pressure (vacuum) generation.

Both models feature two 1/8" female NPT ports, one of which includes a removable plug. The unit is equipped with oversized check valves and dual O-rings on all pistons to ensure leak-free performance and smooth operation. Standard contents include a 2-foot long hose, a 1/8" female NPT gauge fitting, and a 1/8" NPT pipe plug.

Physical dimensions are listed as an overall length of approximately 9 inches (manual) or up to 11-19/32 in [294.48 mm] including accessories (data sheet), with a diameter of 1.5 inches and a weight of 1.5 lb (680 g).

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the CHP-P and CHP-V models is their intended output range: pressure versus vacuum. An optional accessory, model CHP-KIT, consists of a 2' hose and NPT fitting designed to eliminate the need for a tee when connecting a sensor and calibrator.

The Series CHP is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned rather than repaired on-site. A caution note specifies that all gauges and instruments must be disconnected from process pressures before connecting the pump, as connection to sources exceeding 150 psig could cause serious injury.
