Supported Applications

The ACI Platinum RTD Bullet Probe series is a temperature sensor designed for use with electronic controllers in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The bullet style sensor monitors air temperatures in non-condensing environments.

• Air temperature monitoring

Installation guidelines specify that the sensor should not be fully submerged in water, installed on external walls, or placed near heat sources such as lamps, radiators, direct sunlight, copiers, chimney walls, or walls concealing hot-water pipes. Wiring must not run in any conduit with line voltage (24/120/230 VAC).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a process temperature range of -40 °C (-40 °F) to 200 °C (392 °F). The ambient operating humidity is rated for 10 % to 95 % RH, non-condensing. Storage temperatures are specified from -40 °C to 85 °C (-40 °F to 185 °F).

Performance specifications include a Class A accuracy rating with the tolerance formula: ± °C = (0.15 °C + (0.002 * |t|)), where |t| is the absolute value of temperature above or below 0 °C in °C. Specific accuracy points are:

• ± 0.23 °C (± 0.414 °F) at -40 °C (-40 °F)
• ± 0.15 °C (± 0.27 °F) at 0 °C (32 °F)
• ± 0.55 °C (± 0.99 °F) at 200 °C (392 °F)

The nominal response time is 8 seconds for a 63 % step change.

Variance in Sensor Types

While the primary series data sheet details Platinum RTD performance, the broader family manual documents additional sensor types with distinct ranges and accuracies. These include:

• Nickel sensors: -40 to 121 °C (-40 to 250 °F) range
• BALCO sensors: -40 to 121 °C (-40 to 250 °F) range with ±/− 1% accuracy at 21.1 °C (70 °F)
• Thermistors: Various nominal resistances including A/1.8K, A/3K, and A/10KS series

Configuration Options

The ACI Platinum Bullet Probe Series features a 25.4 mm (1 in) stainless steel probe with two or three lead wires. The sensor is available with multiple configuration options to suit specific installation needs.

Sensor Elements and Outputs

• 100 Ω RTD: 100 Ω nominal output
• 1000 Ω RTD (1K): 1000 Ω nominal output

Wire Configurations

The series supports both two-wire and three-wire configurations. The third wire in the 3-Wire configuration compensates for external lead wire resistance.

Cable Options

• Standard: 61 cm (24 in) Etched PTFE Colored Leads per MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E)
• Plenum Rated Cables: Available in lengths of 1.83 m (6 ft), 3.05 m (10 ft), and 6.10 m (20 ft) with model suffixes such as 6'CL2P, 10'CL2P, or 20'CL2P

The probe can be mounted using the following hardware:

• A/MOUNTING CLIP-1/4": Galvanized Metal mounting clip (Item #143351)
• A/MOUNTING U-CLIP-1/4": Plastic with adhesive U-mounting clip (Item #143352)

The series carries CE, UKCA, RoHS2, and WEEE certifications. The sheath material is 304 Stainless Steel, and wetted materials include Silver Plated Copper.

• Sensor Resistance: Models include A/100 for 100 Ω nominal and A/1K for 1000 Ω nominal Platinum RTDs.
