Supported Applications
The Omega Picomag is a smart plug-and-play electromagnetic flowmeter designed for the reliable measurement of conductive liquids with conductivity ≥10 µS/cm. The series supports simultaneous monitoring of volume flow, temperature, and temperature-compensated conductivity. Documented applications include industrial water, cooling water, warm water, and rinsing water.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Picomag operates within a process temperature range of -10 to +70 °C (14 to +158 °F), with temporary capability up to +85 °C (+185 °F). It is rated for a maximum process pressure of 16 bar (232 psi) and features high shock and vibration resistance, making it immune against pipe vibrations. The device carries an IP65/67 enclosure rating (Type 4).
Performance specifications vary by measured variable:
- Flow accuracy: ±0.8% o.r. or ±0.2% o.f.s. (of full scale)
- Temperature accuracy: ±2.5 °C (±4.5 °F)
- Repeatability: Flow: ±0.2% o.f.s.; Temperature: ±0.5 °C (±0.9 °F); Conductivity: ±5% o.r. or ±5 µS/cm
The series requires no inlet/outlet run (0 × DN) and is powered by DC 18 to 30 V.
Configuration Options
The Picomag series offers a compact design with a 1.4" TFT color display that auto-rotates dependent on orientation. Configuration and operation are supported via the SmartBlue App using Bluetooth wireless technology or through IO-Link for integration into process control systems.
Measurement Ranges by Nominal Diameter
- DN 15 (½"): 0.05 to 25 l/min (0.01 to 6.6 gal/min)
- DN 20 (¾"): 0.1 to 50 l/min (0.03 to 13.2 gal/min)
- DN 25 (1"): 0.2 to 100 l/min (0.05 to 26.4 gal/min)
- DN 50 (2"): 1.5 to 750 l/min (0.4 to 198.1 gal/min)
In-/Outputs and Communication
The device provides two freely selectable in-/outputs, including:
- Current outputs (4–20 mA)
- Pulse/switch output
- Voltage output (2 to 10 V)
- IO-Link
- Status inputs (e.g., for a totalizer reset)
Materials and Connections
The housing is constructed from 1.4404/316L or 1.4409/CF3M stainless steel, with the process connection made of 1.4404/316L. Wetted materials include a PEEK measuring tube, 1.4435/316L electrodes, and FKM seals.
Standard process connections are external threads (G½", G¾", G1", G2"). Optional adapter sets are available for internal (G) and external (R, NPT) threads, as well as Tri-clamp and Victaulic fittings.
Key Product Differences
The Picomag series is offered in four nominal diameters: DN 15 (½"), DN 20 (¾"), DN 25 (1"), and DN 50 (2"). The available SKUs correspond to these sizes, with model codes such as DMA15-AAAAA1 through DMA50-AAACA1. Approvals include UL listed (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.), CE mark, cUL mark, and drinking water approval (in prep.).

Interacing Query
Instead of giving a review, I would like to ask how we can interface it with the NI Embedded Controller over ethernet/IP communication. Please provide some use cases of your product where an IO-Link interface is used instead of Bluetooth to interface it with another vendor IO-Link master like Maxim Integrated IO-Link Transceivers

Great flow meter and even better price
Very affordable flow indication and easy to set up with the Bluetooth app. The I&E techs love them!

Does this flow meter work for wastewater (Item# DMA15-AAAAA1)?
Thank you for your inquiry on the Picomag flow meter. Since it does not have any moving parts, it can be used in waste water applications.

Can this flow meter be used for viscous fluid like polymer?
Thank you for your inquiry! These flow meters are well suited for viscous fluids. The major concern is the conductivity of the process liquid. A minimum conductivity of 10 microsiemens per centimeter is required.

What does the pressure drop vs flow rate curve look like?
Thank you for your inquiry. Magnetic flow meters have very low pressure drop and it is less than 1 PSI across the flow range.

whats the differnce between the following cable sets for the PicoMag? 71349261 Cable Set 5m/16.4ft,straight,4x0.34,M12 or 71349264 Cable Set 5m/16.4ft,90deg,4x0.34,M12
Thank you for your inquiry. The difference with these cables is the convenience of installation. Having a 90 degree elbow in the event you do not have enough space or the standard straight cable connection.

We're measuring a mixture of 2% Laponite RD with tap water w/w. Air < 2psi pushes the mix thru 1/4" id Tygon downward and the outlet is open to the atmosphere. Will the Q measured by this unit differ from the Q in the 1/4" Tygon?
Thank you for your inquiry about the Picomag. The smallest process connection is a 1/2 inch and may be too low of a flow rate for the mag meter to measure and also requires the flow to be pressurized and full at all times.

Can you replace FKM seals to EPDM or PTFE?
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, there are no options to replace the current seals for the Picomag flow meter.

Does the Picomag store data points such as maximum flow rate during a specified period of time? If so, can this data be retrieved through the Bluetooth capability on a smart phone? Thanks.
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the Picomag does not have a data logger feature to store data.
