Supported Applications
The Omega PHH-SD1 is a pH/ORP meter with real-time SD card data logging capabilities. It measures pH or mV (ORP) using standard electrodes equipped with BNC connectors and includes a 2 GB SD card for storing measurement records, which can be downloaded directly into an Excel spreadsheet.
Documented applications include:
- Water conditioning
- Aquariums and fish hatcheries (aquaculture)
- Beverage manufacturing
- Food processing
- Photography
- Paper industry
- Plating industries (electroplating)
- Educational laboratories
- Wastewater monitoring
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PHH-SD1 operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) and a humidity rating of less than 85% RH. The device features a display update rate at 1 second.
Measurement performance specifications are:
- pH Range: 0 to 14 pH with 0.01 pH resolution and an accuracy of ± (0.02 pH + 2 d).
- mV (ORP) Range: -1999 mV to 1999 mV with 1 mV resolution and an accuracy of ± (0.5% + 2 d). Note: The measurement table lists the range as 0 to 1999 mV, while other sections specify -1999 mV to 1999 mV.
- Input Impedance: 10^12 Ω
- Sampling Time (Auto): Configurable from 1 second to 8 hrs 59 min 59 sec.
- Manual Logging: Push the data logger button once to save data one time.
The meter supports automatic temperature compensation with an optional probe covering a range of 0 to 65°C (32 to 149°F), or manual temperature compensation via front-panel pushbutton. Calibration utilizes pH 4, pH 7, and pH 10 buffers; three-point calibration provides the best linearity and accuracy.
Configuration Options
The PHH-SD1 series is configured with a 52 x 38 mm (2.04 x 1.5") LCD featuring switchable green backlighting. Power options include six "AAA" alkaline batteries (included) or an optional 9V power adaptor.
Connectivity and Data Output
- Data Logging: SD memory card support; the series includes a 2 GB SD card, with manual documentation noting acceptance of cards up to 16 GB capacity.
- Interface: RS232/USB output available with optional cable and software (SW-U101-WIN).
Sensors and Accessories
The meter uses BNC connectors for electrode connections. Electrodes are sold separately, including the PHE-1304 Standard pH laboratory electrode and ORE-1311 Standard ORP laboratory electrode.
- Temperature Probe: HHWT-SD1-ATC (required for automatic temperature compensation).
- Cables/Software: SW-U101-WIN software, USB-SD spare cable, RS232-SD spare cable.
- Housing/Cases: HC-SD replacement hard case and SC-SD soft case.
- Calibration Solutions: PHA-4 (pH 4), PHA-7 (pH 7), PHA-10 (pH 10).
Key Product Differences
The primary model in this series is the PHH-SD1, described as a data logging pH/ORP meter with an SD card. The device features front-panel controls including POWER, HOLD/ESC, REC/ENTER, ▲, ▼, TIME, and LOGGER SET buttons.
Physical dimensions are 177 H x 68 W x 45 mm D (6.96 x 2.67 x 1.77") with a weight of 489 g (1.08 lb). The unit includes a kickstand and tripod attachment nut for mounting.
Power consumption is listed as 14 mA DC without the SD card or backlight, and 49 mA when all functions are active. An auto power-off function is included to conserve battery life.

Dashed lines are appearing when trying to test the pH. Tried resetting, using a new probe, and trying to recalibrate the pH meter but nothing succeeded. Any advise?
gives us a call or send us and email to flow@omega.com. You can try shorting out the BNC connector of the meter. It should read 7 ph.

Will the RS232/USB Interface let me bypass the SD card and have a computer record the readings? If so, I see both types of cables listed under Accessories. Will either one work?
Using RS232/USB interface you will be able to pull out data to your computer using HyperTerminal and the command protocols of this device.
